Before I shoot myself (after shooting the bike first)

TinMan

I've not been on the old girl since may (although started her up a few times) but its MOT time so thought I'd get her ready. Now I have a few problems, some have been since I've had the bike, others new of my creation...

1. In my profile pic album, there is a picture of a rubber bung with a hole through the middle, I found this in the belly pan when I first got the bike, does anyone know if its from the bike or just a random bit of road debris?
2. The rear lights, again since I've had the bike, when I use the rear brake light, the left rear light just goes out, however applying the front brake it works fine. Again in my pictures their is a pic of the rear light assymbly, for some reason there are 3 black wires that have been cut, 2 thick, one thin, anyone know why and is this whats causing the rear brake light issue?
3. I done the cbr1000rr stand swap and now the bike wont fire, there isnt any error on the dasha and I've tried taking it off and putting it back on etc but no joy, I'm assuming this is what is causing the problem.
The horn doesnt work when it did before, though I'm hoping this is just a fuse issue
Please help!!!
Cheers
Steve

Cheers dude, I've got the light working, just a case of taking out the fuses and putting them back in, still no idea what the black wires are for! Bike is now starting thank christ. Still dont know why the horn isnt working as I thought that would be the fuse but tis the one thing that wasnt. Anyone know the mystery of the rubber mushroom yet?? Been bugging me for ages as to whether this could be related to my power problem? Thanks

Is the rubber bit not off the end of the nearside fairing prop near the clutch slave cylinder?

Nah, the rubber bit is still on the fairing prop plus the one I found has a hole through the middle. Wasnt sure if it was something off the inection unit maybe?

Sorry, i didnt get much of an idea of scale off your pic.
If the rubber bung is just over a centimeter wide then it could be this one -

Offside next to clutch cover.

The only other rubber bungs i could find were the ones between the petrol tank and the frame. :dunno

Has your bike had the alarm removed? If so the black wires could be part of that and someone has just been lazy and cut them rather than remove them:dunno

You have put the CBR 1000rr switch you cant use the same cbr switch you need to use your old ape one.

I think that some bodger has been at your wiring mate, you need to get rid of those connectors and tape up any bare wiring with insulation tape.

I would assume that the wires have been cut, I would recommend that you repair them using solder.

That black mushroom bit could be either from your fairing support as previously advised by the guys or from the underside of your rider or pillion seat. They act as a kind of buffer.

Chances are with the horn that it will be either a corroded horn unit or terminals, it is exposed to all the crap weather we have in Britain, after all.

If you have intermittent electrics and it all sorted itself out when you pulled the fuses then it sounds like you need to use some terminal cleaner on them.

If you have a non start chances are it's the side stand switch, best to bypass it and see if it works. It could just be that the CBR stand is not moving through the full angle and not completing the circuit.

Not entirely sure that's the same as mine but there is a rubber bung that sits over a frame bolt on the inside of the oil tank to stop the bolt punching through the tank if it goes down.
