Hi folks! I have recently changed my tyres from Conti road attack sport (already on there when I bought it, fine…not much feel really and then went square) I am a fan of Battlax tyres as I have always found them to suit me. Good grip and feel, decent life and pretty reasonable. The thing is…since I had them fitted I can hear a noticeable increase in road noise, it sounds like a hum/howl at anything above 35-40mph I’ve checked the pressures and have tried different settings. Settled on 36f 42r and it’s still loud. Sometimes it seems to change slightly depending on road surfaces and isn’t affected by braking or leaning.
I have changed the chain and sprockets since (down one tooth on the front but that’s another story) and it’s made no difference. Wheel alignment checked and fine. I even replaced the front wheel bearing (what a silly design that is) and again, no luck.
Are these just loud tyres? I’m also going to change the rear wheel and sprocket carrier bearings too to be sure. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers - Al
