Hi all if I don't use the bike for a couple of days without it been on a trickle charge the battery goes dead I've replaced the battery so I'm guessing there must be a discharge problem somewhere has anybody had a similar problem? Thanks

Brand new mate should last more than a few days when not on the optimiser,no alarm fitted and heated grips are ignition switched so got to be a discharge or charging fault

sounds like its time to break out the multi meter and start checking for battery drain
there is a constant small drain on the battery on a gen 2 as the clocks and ecu are "on " all the time for the immobilizer and clock etc shouldnt be more than a few milliamps tho .
also check your charging voltage !!

It's gen one sorry should have stated that unless the new battery has a bad cell
Yeah, could be a wiring fault,.....like a trapped or chafed wire somewhere.Around the headstock is a common area.As with a previous post,...time to get busy with a multimeter.Doubt it is a duff cell,...but yer never know.

Ok the saga continues its been on the optimiser all night and charged up a treat but as soon as you turn the ignition on it drops to about 7 volts straight away I'm kinda thinking its a battery issue?

I've put it on and fired up no bother without the big voltage drop,it's a nitro battery I don't know if there good quality???

sounds like a winner. no idea about the nitro, but the battery is something I'm usually ok with a premium for quality. got a yuasa in every one of my last 3 bikes and never been stranded.
that being said, I've tempted fate, and shall be noting down the roadside assist # now for use later today :)

cheers

Yuasa are the best to have in a big twin :)
