Battery problems

Hi bought new battery march last year put on charge and left just started it once a week took it for mot on Monday got it back Wednesday put back on charge went to start it Friday and it died after a few tmes of trying and the battery won't take a charge now. Is this possible as I've not been on the bike cor a year ? Cause I thought the trickle charger would have held the battery fully charged.
There is no alarm on the bike to drain the battery but it was off charge for almost 3 days in REALY low night time temps.

Mine would always be on the trickle charger, whenever it was parked in my garage, perhaps you should do the same, although you could have fitted a duff battery.

I had a (fairly) similar problem with my old battery but left it to run down more than once causing it to sulphate. I'll let this link explain the techie stuff http://www.wisegeek.com/how-does-sulfation-drain-a-battery.htm Although it'll cost a few quid, maybe worth just biting the bullet and getting a new battery and ensure when its not in use on the bike, its on a decent charger like an Optimate.
