Hi All,

Been away for a couple of weeks and went to start my 03 RSVR when it made some nasty noises. I suyspect its the battery and have taken it out to give it a good charge however i think it may be the original battery (+bikes only done about 3k miles), is it a good idea to change it for a new one? If so then would appreciate any suggestions on the best type to get and best place to get one from?

Cheers,

J

Got a Varta Funstart YTZ14S-BS battery on mine, been good as gold for the past 2 years. Think I got it off Ebay and paid £45 but also worth checking the online battery places - Tayna, MDS etc.

Hi there,

Thanks very much for advice.

Finally got round to buying a battery on ebay and popped it on the bike just now, as soon as i attached the positive lead the alarm went off even though the ignition was not on???? I tried to use the remote fob to turn it off but it would'nt not do anything. I thought that maybe the battery for the remote is low on battery so pulled it apart but cant see any battery to replace???? Any thoughts on what is causing this?

Also, i am keen to disconnect the alarm permqanantly to avoid this issue. Any pointers on what the leads are and how i do this?

Keen to get in touch with Killaprilia to get hold of cables however don't know how i do this? Is there an easy way to get in touch with him?

Cheers,

J

hi mate what type alarm do you have ,sometimes when you connect power like a battery or a battery charger to the bike you can what they call spike the alarm sysyem
done it to me ,i have a datatool evo on mine . was a easy fix:thumbup

good afternoon all - hope were all well :) seems a long while since one was here - as Red said i can supply some H/duty uprated cables and batteries if necc as i did for mark , the cables will carry more amps to the starter solenoid and there on to the starter motor and with the added earth cable makes for a sound starter system. There is little point putting a bigger battery on if the cables can't carry the Amps. but no probs just drop me a pm or email guys :thumbup

Hi,

Worked out how to replace the batteries on the key fob and put the battery back on and managed to turn the alarm off. Therefore must have been low battery on the fob.....so now all sorted with a fresh new battery.

I ended up with a YTZ 12 off ebay to replace the exisiting battery like for like, would the uprated cables still be useful? Aslo, how hard a job is it to do?

And is it hard to disconnect the battery all together?

Cheers,

J

hi mate this will help you if you need it in the future  just remember put it in safe mode before you connect anything to the bike that has voltage going through it.. "good" to hear it was just the battery in the fob that was ****** :) why didnt i think of that lol sorry.... save the linky mate ..

pm sent to killa.

Those leads look very nice.

I have been looking for a battery and the ones on eBay all seem to have a low cca rating of 100.

sent you a PM back mate - the ones i use / supply i think the CCA is 230 but i will double check in the morning - Its the CTZ14sbs instead of the normal CTX12bs its a little bit lower in height but more CCA , i have now replaced the piece of quality timber to pack out the height with a better fixing lol :)
