Banging and popping

Hey guys,

Here's a strange one. I was on a trackday a few weeks ago and after a few sessions I started hearing a popping sound from under the tank on my 03 RSVR, especially when trying to drive out of the slower corners - it was like I had no real throttle control at low revs, just on or off. When I got home I noticed a rivet had come out of my can and that would be the cause. So I've repaired that - end cap off and re-riveted.

Started it up yesterday and its worse now, really loud bangs and flames out of the exhaust!!

I'm worried I've got a big problem, so if anyone has any pointers I'm all ears!!

Cheers.

Check the nuts on the manifold are nice and snug.
Make sure all the conections/joints on the exhaust system are located properly.
Also, check that the headers have'nt lost an air/co2 check hole plug.

Thanks mate, I'll have a look after work and see if there's anything obvious.

Think I've sussed it - in the pic there are two red plastic caps and one has blown its end (oooooh matron!!!) and flames were coming out. Put my finger over it and everything's fine so I've just got to get a replacement.

Not sure this is the same on all Gen 1's as mine has 57mm throttle bodies.

Yep, I thought probably air leak and that was it.

Now, where can I buy replacement pipe caps from???
