Bake light issue

Hi to all, I've recently got myself a 99 rsv, as with any new bike I like to give it a good look at everywhere and found the rear brake switch to be crap, I sorted that. But my question is ........ is it normal for only one bulb to get brighter when brakes are applied, I'm waiting for the haynes bible to arrive so I can have a read up. In the meantime I would like to know if I should keep digging or replace the rear light all together. Thanks

No both should be stop and tail bulbs

Thanks, I thought so looking at the bulb but I was told by a so called mech that they don't, won't be asking him anything anymore
