Ok guys opinions on standard protectors in leathers when you buy them v aftermarket ones which you wear under them.

I'm not spending any more money on kit for the bike this year but have decided to just get updated risky kit.

What's the best ones out there for your money an is it worth investing?

just got my self some new leathers with back insert we all know they are **** but you can get replacements like i did for mine and its level 2 protection the highest you can get only £10 bike deviles wrexham. and when you stop for a brew/pint you just have the jacket to carry with you not separate back protector as well

So many big names out there (Dainese, Knox, Forcefield, Spidi etc.) all depends how much you want to spend. I had the same dilemma before I bought a back/chest protector from Spidi. Great quality, comfort item from Italian brand with high level of safety. Sounds like sales pitch ;) as I'm selling one. Make me an offer if you interested.

I've always found back protectors uncomfortable, until one day I found myself in the Dainese store in Manc. Out of idle curiosity I tried one on, it was so comfortable, easy to put on and light, I bought it.
Any back protector is going to be better than nothing, but the advice I would offer, is to actually try for fit and comfort before you buy.

I looked at the forcefield stuff at the NEC ... Light, flexible and unobtrusive with good arse bone protection ... but the Spidi was betterest

I've been toying with the idea of getting a back protector for ages. I really should too, as I broke my back in a bike accident when I was 19 and very nearly ended up in a wheelchair.

Can't decide whether to go for a strap on (ooo-er..) type like a forcefield, or a waistcoat type with the protection built in.

Gilo I'm thinking Knox Contour race as it has tail bone protection. 99 quid and get the chest protector for another 24 quid on top. Gets rave reviews. Think that's what I'll be getting before the spring. Not really bothered about having to take it on and off

i bought myself a top of the range forcefield protector after i'd bought my new alpinestars suit, cant wear it cos it's too tight....lesson to be learned here guys, leave enough room for a back protector when buying new leathers !!!!!

The room I keep my leathers in must be damp ... because they've shrunk.

Come tothink of it ... the whole hosue must be damp cos **** all fits like it used to!

I couldn't get a protector under my jacket so will have to rely in its in-built armour

Diet starts then. Lost nearly a stone with bloody noro virus. few pounds put back in with my week away but still lost loads of weight

I had a look at back protectors again yesterday and found one that's light, flexible, unobtrusive AND which fits under my jacket. Knox Aegis ... also need new boots so head v heart decision really. Or should I say back v feet?

Yes mate I'm in the same dilemma. Have ordered a MIVV GP pipe for the bike but also would like rad guards, new boots, headlight protector, some ventureshield, and back protector. U can just keep spending.

Think I'll make do with just the pipe this month

Just a thought:
Hein Gericke stuff is also worth a look, if prepared to go internal back protector and CE armour.
Hopefully none of use will need to use it, but it's good stuff and as part of the jacket, it does fit my humpy back. I got synthetics and leathers and am very comfy. loads of unsued stuff cheap on eBay if money is tight.
