so while i was in santa barbara, i got to out with some old riding buddies on our usual stomping grounds. heading out to ojai i was riding my buddies 954, the suspension has all be done, and this thing was a blast to ride. Feels a lot like my R1 so it didn't take long to get accustomed to it. Getting well into 33 it was like i haven't been away from the place...blasting through turns (these are the same turns a few months ago i remarked how stupid it was to go flying through them)...
on the way back, we switched up bikes again...this time i was on his Duc 999s. Talk about night and day. I had a hard time adjusting to just about everything on this bike. Clutch was super stiff, and had a short catch...the bike had horrible vibrations above 7k in the handlebars....and engine braking actually existed. The seat is a bit weird too...and the bike really does feel longer. Still fun to ride...and the brakes!!! omg the brakes!!! They were amazing. The R1 is known for having great brakes, these things we easily 2x better. I'll be looking into a super sweet brembo setup soon :drool Still a great bike overall, even the pavement bowed to its power.
all in all a good ride out, i've missed the canyons of SoCal. now i have a few more weeks to wait until i'm back in PA...and probably doing some trackdays before the season ends.
