did i read somewhere here that a partial answer to the back brake problem is to keep the lever depressed overnight with a heavy weight or am i making this up?

Grrrrr why cant i edit the title, its too early break ffs !!!! lets try BRAKE.

Apparently that works for some. I object to it on the principle that I paid good dosh for the ******* bike and I'll be buttfucked if I'm going to hang a ******* brick off the pedal by a shoelace... How rancid and ****** is that? That being said, the back brake on Andiamo is either working well, just after I get it "professionally" bled, or nowt at all... ******* thing. Spring riding ya needs a back brake to trail a little whilst driving through all the gravel that was dropped o'er the winter.

Phew!Just a spelling mistake,.....had me worried there!
Its true if you hang a weight on the brake pedal,it willpump up for a short time.It aint right though,....if it has to be done regulary then something is wrong like air getting in to the system.
Here is the word from Aprilia on bleeding the rear brake;

Soon after I got my T the back brake became useless and did not work. Tried the hanging a weight from it, never worked for me. Also followed the procedure from Aprilia , might have been me doing it wrong but again it did not work for me. A mate suggested using a large medical syringe fitted to the bleed nipple, holding the caliper as high as possible and sucking fluid out. As soon as I did this a few bubbles came out and the brake has now been Ok for 6 months.:thumbup

**** p thought someone had fecked their spine.

How true this is I don't know so apologies if its complete ***** but Paul @ Bikewise who set up my suspension said to swap the rear brake master cyclinder with a ducati monster one. It apparently stops the brake going on holiday when it really should be working?

I doubt it will make any difference, they are probably the same Brembo caliper anyway.
It works fine if it's remounted vertically - as on a pair of rearsets.
If you can get them fully and properly bled (KZMille - AF1 Forum) they sometimes stay working

I've lost count of the times I've bled mine...(and the arguments from the smartarses saying I'm not bleeding it properly)

I've done Kzmilles bleed...ok for about 250miles

I've hung weights on the pedal overnight ...ok for about 200miles

But FINALLY...I threw the towel in and invested in some rearsets (and **** me! it's is an investment worth it's weight in gold!!)

I can now for the first time ever lock the rear with little pressure...beautiful feel...very progressive.....perfect! (at last!)

As a bonus...the gearshift...it's the most positive, snickety snickest it's ever been...neutrals?? no problem sir....less effort at the lever...the gears just drop in...

After a rear shock upgrade, this has been the best mod I've done to this bike

So...if you're stuggling with that rear..and have a bit of dosh to spare...go for it...it will transform your bike.

Promise

how do the rear sets fix the problem?

ffs Pikey ...

Because the reservoir is lifted up, behind and away from heat ...

Bubbles rise and because of the way the wanky T back brake is configured most of us end up basically air locked.

There is a cuntomongous number of posts on this subject.

Stop dithering about ... get your shiny T up your muddy lane and onto the road ... let Griff look at it ... buy a set of rear-sets ... Just ride the ******* thing!

Are you on your period?

cant do tomorrow got 5 kids around for party !!!! and maybe not a good idea while your pissy :)

Well i must have a standard T rear brake, not that im bothered as i never use the thing , especially with the twin engine braking.
Although its due an MOT soon so may have to sort it. Hopefully with the local bike garage being a italian bike specialist they may be a little more understanding with the MOT.
If not it may be a good excuse to slap on a pair of those decent looking rear sets you are all raving on about..

Relocating the rear brake master cylinder works! It genuinely stops any rear brake problem!

I promise!

Pete may well be on the blob this week. It the man does speak the truth!

I had the same issue with my bike which is why I designed the rearsets, not had to do mine in three years now!

Shameless plug in a John Cleese style ( remember the planters snacks advert?)

Aprilia performance rearsets...... Buy some! Hehe

As well as crash bungs and a Power Commander III eh mate. You'll be broke soon. Bit like me forgot I was having my car resprayed this week and just bought some tyres. Oh bollox, wonder if they'll wait for pay day.
