Friends,
Do anybody have problems with back brakes that go spongy?
I have a 2006 factory,beautiful bike,apart for backbrake,
I have blead them several times, according to advice from AF1 racing in the states,
the brakes will be fine for a couple of rides... not because i use them alot but still a nucense,

does anybody have any ideas why this keeps happening?
and possibly a fix for this?

Thank you in advance for any help and advice you can offer me,
Torben.

You can get a larger bore master cylinder....13mm instead of 11mm....but you must bleed the system 100% correct way, this is what i done and 7000 miles later still have a good back brake

I also had the same problem and I found the brake rod was adjusted incorrectly, the after adjusting the rod and bleeding the brake I put thick Self adhesive silver heat shield onto the back of the metal heat shield, it seems to have worked but the dam winter has got in the way a bit, I will know for sure in the warmer weather, the dealer told me that the 06 has got the bigger master cylinder?

Thanks a lot.
Will do it again, early atempt was with 5mm spacer and bike on front and rear wheel stand,me silly old fool 66 years old, will come back to you with result, torben,NZ

I have a mate who emigrated to NZ about 9yrs ago...Howick.. on the North Island. Anywhere near you Torben ?

Another trick from the Ducati's (haven't read the pdf file so excuse me if it says the same there) is to take the caliper off and place it on TOP of the disc while bleeding. Certainly on the Ducati's it was nearly impossible to bleed the rear brake satisfactorily with it hanging beneath the disc.

Aye, you've got to bleed the brake with the caliper off the bike, held as high as possible and then again as low as possible...bit of a faff, but 20mins later you've got a lovely back brake. Doesn't stay that way of course but two months on I've still got a functional rear brake...Not sure it's MOT worthy but holds bike on a hill ok:thumbup
