Are these eeproms any good?

Yo Stu!
I've just bought a new Eprom chip from a UK seller for £9.00. Their feedback looks good, they bought a load of kit from a racing team which folded.
I'll put it on when I get a decent can & then post how good it is.
Keep safe!

I got one off fleabay, which was from a company that apparently had bought a load of old racing chips. It didnt work. Couldn't even start the bike, got in touch with them and they said the all work when they leave them and I must of damaged it, but they were prepared to sell me another! When you put the chip in make sure the little indentation goes the same side as the origional.

The dude demands your frame number so you don't rip off his chip design? Sod that. How do you know there are not going to be hundreds of clones of your bike running up and down the autobahn in a few weeks? Buy elsewhere for his bleedin' cheek alone.

They are **** them chips, the ebay ones dont work as they dont tell the fuel pump to work, hence why ya bike didnt start mate, not sure why you want to change it from the original to be honest, the original will cope with all the mods ya chuck at it, mines got renegade airbox and custom cans, im using the original chip and have no issues with fueling and the power output :thumbup

just my opinion :thumbup

hmmmmm i got a nice chip:doug

i'm running the TI Can with the TI chip..it performs real nice..just can't wait to get the Evo air kit in to see if it breaths that little more life into it. Currently runnin a K&N filter in closed std box with plug out. I want to hear the wonderful sound of induction :pirate

Is it advisable to take the air ram tubes out when fitting the Evo Kit? Has anyone done this too their 02 plz?

Yer but yours is a 100% Genuine Renegade Race Chip, Renegade spent time and money developing that for their aprilia race bikes, your one of a few lucky fcukers who managed to get hold of one, these lads are talkin about ebay crap thats not got anything to back the claims up, and if ya lucky enough to get one that actually worked the fuel pump i doubt it would make any difference to the bike, in fact it may make it run worse :dunno but its been proven the original chip will cope with the usual mods so why bother riskin an ebay item :dunno

Got the chip today. looks nothing like the picture on Egay & the seller has another 3 listed, how many did they get from this race team? I feel a row coming on!

alright alright mate don't get excited (big balls):lol:lol
yes i was lucky :doug
the standard chip had to be changed on mine as it would,nt run with the competition cans it lacked power and a massive flatspot so i had no choice but to fit the racechip, but that said like stew says majority run perfectly fine with the standard chip:thumbup

hey to all where is the plug in the airbox is it that pipe at front bottom have a k&n in ther kinda pointless unless all air coming in?

Lift the tank, undo the airbox cover, remove filter..in the bottom of the airbox moulding there is a round plate about 5-6" dia. 'where red circle is on photo'...pull this out if it has not already been...Note: this one has been removed. ...replace airfilter and airbox lid etc. :D easy as that.

that done already lets air up thru the filter happy days how to change to map 2 see alot of stuff with the blue green wire clipped floating about not done much with my rsv have raced blades tuning them is easy enough any info on eproms do ineed to change maps before fittiing it or will ecu adjust itself as it runs

Hi Fin,

As I am new here too (new to fi as well)and have been asking similar question I think the answer you are after is that the eeprom has 2 modes the 1st and standard mode is for standard can/s, standard airfilter sort of an everyday normal setting. When you upgrade to a performance airfilter and race can you clip the blue/green wire which activates the performance option in the eeprom. but dont clip the wire if you run standard can/s and air filter.

Pretty sure thats what the good folk on here have said

P.S If you want more then you will need a power commander and dyno time :doug

There seems to be a lot of confusion about eeproms map on pre 04 bikes.

There is no race map on the standard eeprom.

Pre 03 european bikes had 2 maps. 1 map for countries that had 100bhp restriction laws and to meet that the bike had a unique map/reduced air intake/exhaust restrictor.
non restricted countries removed all of those and cut the ecu wire to access the un resticted map in the eeprom.

none of the maps are for race cans, air boxes ,air filter mods per say but the FI by it's design can compensate to a degree to cater for them.

post 02 bikes in the Usa and post 03 bikes everywhere else have only 1 map in both locations on the eeprom so cutting the wire gives you the same map as before.

Post 04 bikes do not use an eeprom but a flashable ecu. You can flash a new map into it (version 1 or 2) or switch the ecu to engine variant 2 which ignores the reading from the lamda sensor if you have removed the cats. Variant 2 acesses a map to cater for the fact you have no cats.

If you want a new eeprom especially for pre 2000 bikes get one that re enables your co trimmers such as the Gabro or if you have the bucks go the pc3 route. None of the eeproms will match the pc3 in terms of power or customisation of the fueling.

hey to all, took a wee root around restrictor already removed from airbox has three inlets one each side one in middle a crude ram air suppose the blue green wire was inded cllippped an isolated also so that saves alot of poking around, where can i get hold of a gabro chip? mines a 2002 mille euro spec (holland) manual in dutch anyhow lucky me can translate most of it
