Hey guys,

It seemed like i made my previous thread at the wrong section and wanted to try again.

A while back i heard a VTR1000 passing by and i fell in love with the sound, and a week later i saw the RSV1000R on the internet and i fell in love
with it's looks. I was wondering, what is the RSV1000R"s sound like compared to the VTR1000 ? Is it as low and raw as the VTR1000?

Also, i am 6"5 and wondering what bike will most likely fit me best. I have yet to find a shop with both bikes at their place so im waiting for that
basicly.. hehe.

Are there any other big differences between the bikes i should consider?

Thank you,

Matsuke

cant comment much on the VTR but the RSV can sound very different based on what exhaust & airbox changes you make, i would say that it is very low and deep sounding in general

im sure you can find some youtube vids of people showing off their exhaust sounds ;)

i would reccomend you go and see the bikes in person, even if one shop doesnt have both in stock you can go to one first then the other, its probably worth the extra hassle

One big difference in the bikes i would expect to see would be the suspension and braking gear, on Aprilia it is mostly Brembo & Ohlins very good equipment, Honda tends to fit nameless parts made somewhere in china..

Hey Wolf,

Thanks for the fast reply, yeah i am plannning to check them both out very soon but i couldn't hold my curiosity and made this thread! Haha.
I guess part wise the Aprillia has a +1 .

I still wonder about the sound very much tho! Ha ha.

Sorry fella not having a go but have to comment here. Honda's principal suspension supplier is Showa, same people who supply RSV forks. Brakes are Nissin, not quite Brembo but certainly not cheap Chinese crap.

Having said that the VTR isn't a patch on a Falco, let alone a RSV-RSVR, in any department.

well i am happy to be corrected :) wasnt aware they also used showa for suspension

My first bike was a vtr1000.. It did sound good... But the rsv is so much better!! Feels better, goes better, looks better and sounds better (using cored cans now)!!

Hey guys,

Went to a few bike shops today and the bike fits fine. Also i found the colors i want my bike in! APRILIA RSV 1000 R FACTORY SOUND. - YouTube Those cans are sexy too, but probably
are custom made since none below the video knows about the cans..

Is the bike in the video a specific built year or RSV1000 model ? Makes it easier for me to look for the Gold/black version hehe.

Thanks

I had a VTR with Quill can's and it sounded good, the down side to the vtr is the cct's front one to be exact, a week spring if it goes and you stop the bike asap your lucky, if not is hole world of pain.. mine was the latter and i got more for the bike in parts than to repair it, however i did enjoy the time i had with it, i now have the Tuono and its more raw in power and i love it.

Had an sp1 a while back and really liked it, blue flame twin outlet with 4 removeable baffles so you had 4 different options for noise bit more expensive then the standard vtr 1000 but worth the extra! If your budget stretches enough look for the sp2, they improved the throttle response to make it less twitchy in traffic. Don't get me wrong I love my 02 RSVR, I prefer the looks and the handling suits my riding ( it makes me look better then i am!) but the Honda was pretty much bulletproof engine wise reliability was never a problem.

Had a Firestorm not long after they came out.

Remus open cans
Dynojet and a couple of hours on HM dyno
WP rear shock
WP progressive springs with valving to weight
Kawasaki master cylinder
Braided lines

Was an awesome bike and only sold it as had it 4 years and fancied a change.

Engine a bit agricultural compared to RSV but plenty of character.

This is the bike that got me hooked on twins, wanted a TL but they were too small between footrest and tank for me.

Would love to get an SP2 before they get too expensive.

Before I did get a change to drive my current bike (RSV Factory R -04/ 1st bike after having a none for 25 y.) I did drive both VTR/ VTR SP1 , I did not choose the bike because of the motorsound etc. but of the real feel of riding the bike, those japanese felt more like a touring bikes compared to RSV, they were more heavy, suspension not so balanced, weight middle point more high, output and expecially low grunt is much more lively in RSV - so I did choose RSV and now after owning this allready 14 months I'm still smiling every time when I start my bike ...... now ridden + 6000 km ( was originally 19 000 km) without any problem.

That's what you asked ? :biggrin

this is my vtr and is pulling 110bhp on the wheel ans is very good ROAD bike much like the toruno .
an sp1/2 is much more race focused than the rsvr and is not at home on the road .

Never ridden a vtr , but had an sp 1 for a day ,stunning looking thing ,I could sit and look at it all day long
Was a bit crap to ride tho felt like an nc30 , not that there's anything wrong with them , just not how the exotic hrc built bike should be
The Millie's a ton better

I used to have a sorted sp1,cracking bike just too slow so bought a k7 1000, which was too much, so I settled for a mille R and almost have the best of both worlds :)

I had an sp1 before the rsvr and I would say the rsvr is a far better machine for normal road use. The sp1 was twitchy, and horrible in traffic and not half as powerful as the rsvr I have now. Saying that the sp1 is very pretty.

Cheers Dave
