anyone use these - is there a down side??

I use a Lightech or however you spell it one. It's good, no real benefits apart from it looks a lot nicer than the stock one and if you are anal it weighs a fair bit less. Downsides are you have to find a place to put the cap when you fill up as it doesnt flap like the std one.

I have one fitted to mine. Some of the holes are blanks i.e non threaded, so I used some sealant to secure the bolts in as I wasn't keen on the open holes look!

Only real disadvantage to them that I can think of is that if you screw the cap back on tight, be prepared for a fight when it comes to unscrew it. It can be a right cow son in the cold! :D

I've thought about one of these cause every couple of weeks or so, no matter what weather, my filler cap lock seizes, and needs to be pumped full of wd40.

i've been undecided on these for a while.....the fit always bothered me to be honest.....so i settled for some black bolts for the std one from pro bolt.
caterpillar - where have you been hiding?...hope your ok.....could you not drill it out so you could use all 6 bolts as per std?

I hav one there ace, tho mot blokey wont like it... Mind u he dosent like my cf tank either!
Ck
ps- yup it did save a bit of weight too, only downside is if some scrote nicks the cap, they are expensive to replace

I bought a black one and it looks great with the black Pro-Bolt bolts! :devious

It CAN be a pain to open when your hands are cold and I don't worry too much about fuel being nicked. If it happens it happens! :dunno

One thing I don't like about it is when I wash the bike and the cap fills with water. Minor, I know. :roll

To be honest I am not too worried about some missng fuel.

I would be much more worried about some STROP putting something in the tank

Think I am getting one anyway, pretty cheap me thinks :thumbup

Yeah, **** it!! :thumbup

Just noticed you're in Melbourne. I spent a bit of time on French Island and popped over to Phillip for WSB in 2003! :biggrin
