Dunno but can't complain about the price. I do think there's a lot of ********* revolved around tyres. Some people love a tyre that other people wouldn't even look at.
I think continental do some touring tyres that have a good reputation.

ive tried loads of tyres, MEZ 3's, Pilot power 2cts, Pilot Pures, Dragon Supercorsa's and at the mo ive got METZELER RENSPORT's but i struggle to get more than 1000miles out of a rear, in fact im on my 3rd rear Rensport since my MOT in June so im looking for something that will have more grip in the wet and might just see me through the winter,

The choice is mind boggling. I've been happy with my Sportsmarts & rear should be good for at least 3K gives enough grip for my level of riding.

As Tricky says, there's a load of ********* around about tyres, and I think most tyres these days are very good. We let ourselves be blinded by the bike journo's and their opinions. I used Conti touring tyres on a blade I had and they were fine, got 5k out of the rear, and I didn't hang about.
I've used loads over the yrs, and sport/touring tyres will do the job as good as any sof sport tyre. Its only when on a track you may need the extra soft tyre when at the limit

Tried several makes of tyres too over the years.
On the Tuono I like the Dunlop Roadsmarts. (Did have the Rennsports.)
Have had good feedback from the tyres.
A rubber band will give more miles than the Rennsports.

On my big Kawasaki 1200 now on my 3rd set of Avon's.
The Storme Ultra 2. Looking real good.

Good mileage from the old Storms so far even in the wet, so gone with them again.

Tyres are a very personal thing.
So its a question of try them and see.

There's not realy a bad tyre out there now.

You are not joking, its shocking how fast Rennsports go down to the wear indicators.

I try to keep to the twisties as much as possible to preserve the centre section, but it makes no difference.

If it was a car tyre we would all demand our money back.

Its that old thing about grip on the limit, not that I get anywhere near it.

I was going to ask whether anybody has tried Pirelli Diablo sports, You can pick a pair up sub £150.00

Sorry to go off on a rant, I have been thinking about this since my previous moan this morning.

I drive a BMW with a 3 litre diesel engine that can light the tyres up at will.

It probably weighs more than a ton & half, with 230 odd hoss power.

Its like a big go-kart round the corners & the rear tyres can easily last 30,000 miles. The fronts even longer.

Tyre manufacturers are taking the piss out of us bikers again.

Rant over.

Sorry. Pleased I got that off my chest before I get a new back tyre for the bike.

I am calm again.

I had an M5 and didn't get anywhere near that, but I know what your saying.

There was Cuntinawfuls oan my Caponord when a bought it and they were terrible. No feel in the wet at all and always gave the impression they wir goin tae break away. Nae particularly inspirin confidence.

Running Dunlops Roadsmarts on it noo and its well sorted. Also hae the Dunlop Sportsmarts oan the Tuono and rate them very highly. Both types o the 'smarts are excellent in the wet and the cauld, particularly like ye get up roond here the noo.

Ditch the Contis idea min....

I've used standard Diablo's on many bikes and loved them, sticky tyres that lasted. I reckon the sports would be a cracking tyre.
With tyre manufacturers changing their tyres so often, you can pick up some canny bargains. Mate of mine just bought a Pilot Power for £85, these were the dogs bollocks 2 yrs ago and cost a lot more.....

Olaf, re car tyres, I've a MK7 Fiesta 1.25, and it neede new tyres at 11k. That is **** in my book, what you got on the BM?

Grin,
Bridgestone Potenzas on the back, Pirelli Pilot Sports on the front.

Run-flats. Only one place in the area will fix a puncture in them. Another way of fleecing people.

Hi, just got a pair of Maxxi sportmaxx, hoping to get all year round grip, reviews sound good, wear could be an issue though. I dont ride far, but I ride pretty hard. Anyone had any experience of these maxxis, good or bad??. Darren.

UNTILL you mentioned CONTINENTAL .

Had the Contis on my Fazer and after 2,000 miles they went all pear shapped.
Worst tyres I ever had.

But Tyres are very much a personal thing, about how You ride etc.
So try then if you dare!!!!!

If it's price driving you, try the Avons.
Just my Opion for what it's worth.
Remember tyres are the only thing between you and the road.
