Anyone know their chips?

I have a spare chip with my bike its numbered - M27C25GB and has a light erasable window on top.

My mille is an 01 model with leo vince ti end can and soon to have a renegade airbox.

My question is should I fit this chip and what will it do?:confused

That number is the maufacturers (SGS Thomson) code for the chip not anything to do with what's on it.

It's a frequently used programmable Ic so could have been a custom job or something supplied with a can.
