I'm changing my car next month. Currently running a Vectra 3.0 V6 CDTi SRi. Great car, amazing amount of stomp / torque for real world driving. But it's time to move on. And after last years snow I'm going the 4x4 route with an SUV slant / bias.
I have two specific ones in mind. The Peugeot 4007 GT which is stonking value for money and going by online owners reviews etc appears to be Peugeots best kept secret with some seriously good bad weather / snow capability. I looked at the BMW X5 4.8is but the wife doesn't like them. Same with the Merc ML.
The alternative "curveball" is a Porker Cayenne. Budget is £15k max, would be looking to ideally spend about £13k tops though but I can stretch a bit if a really good one came up. I've done tonnes of research into the Cayenne and it seems to be a good buy. Servicing costs are nowhere near as bonkers as you would expect if you use an indy specialist and not a main dealer. Parts costs are on a par with BMW's and Mercs. The big killer is fuel. The mpg is pretty dire. Owners report 20 mpg or less on the 4.5S if you are careful. I'm thinking I can live with that though as I don't do a huge mileage per year. I cycle to work most days or take the Mille during the good weather so the car is going to do maybe 6000 - 8000 per year. I'll happily swallow up silly fuel prices over that mileage for the performance afforded by the V8, it's not gonna break the bank too harshly.
So, anyone got a Cayenne here?. Any info on 'em appreciated. :biggrin
