Hey all, got all the bits to do my subframe conversion on my mille R so I can take a pillion, got the subframe, pillion seat and pegs on ebay for £132 + postage, which I thought was a bit of a bargain.:thumbup

Anyway gonna be doing the conversioin soon, as I have the time, was told its a 2-3 hour job so I will need 5:) But I would like a bit of advice on the following.

1. One of the things I heard with this conversion is the need to modify the locking mechanism, but couldn't find anything specific on it, is it fairly straight forward does anyone have pics?
2. will the undertray fit with the new subframe?
3. was looking in the haynes manual to get an idea of what is required, and can't tell if it is gonna be necessary to completely remove the tank.

would really apreciate any help as the bike is parked outside and I don't want to get stuck half way through the job, Cheers.

I can help with 3. The under tray mounts to the frame just abouve the rear shock with 2 allen screws, these need to be removed to allow the subframe/undertray to be removed. The tank does not have to come right off you can rest on top of airbox or have someone hold it while you take out the screws then put the tank back. just taken my subframe off tonight for a different reason took about an hour.

you dont need to modify the lock mechanism, but the bracket may need a chopabout...different brackets listed for 1 and 2 seaters...if you have the original single seat bracket it needs to have the outer lugs chopped so it sits flush with he subframe, no pics but you'll see what i mean once you get all the bodywork back on after the swap....

hi is it true to make the pillion conversion to an rsvr you need to change the subframe as its not strong enough i have everything else to make the conversion but was told the rsvr subframe will not be strong enough :s is this the case thanks

there are 2 tyes of subframe single or dual seat , dual seat subframes go right under the pillion seat lock...plenty strong enough its a factory item..........single seat subframe stops after the riders seat...
