anyone bought carbon from OPP racing?

C

carbon kid

was it any good?, they bang onabout how great their stuff is...but I have been waiting nearly 6 months for a carbon fuel tank when they quoted me 4-6 weeks(as I parted with my cash), I'm now really pissed off with them indeed.:mad1

Hi,

I've never used OPP however in the press they reckon there is a world shortage of Carbon Fibre due to the manufacture of the new Airbus so maybe thats holding it up?. Mind you looking at your bike and my bike we've probably used up any Carbon Fibre that BAE had left over:thumbup

If you're looking for a quick Carbon fix you can get the OE Plastic RSVR tank covered in Carbon Fibre by Raw Tech, follow link:- www.raw-carbon.co.uk/ and select 'One offs' under 'Services' then 'RS250 Carbon Tank'

Looks pretty good and probably alot cheaper than an OPP tank!!:dunno

cheesr for link matey.Yeah I heard about the shortages too.cheers for that! , I agree about us alone taking up the reserves of carbon LOL!, I have already paid for the tank(ouch.. a grand) so I'l just have to wait I suppose.(their carbon is supposed to be very good cos they use epoxy not polyester resin so the carbon is proper dark-not that orrible grey colour with milky white bits in it you see on cheap stuff.
What do you thinkto your CF wheels mate? they are the only carbon bits I havent added yet!
cheers Andy

Yeah I had heard that the OPP stuff is good quality but haven't seen any first hand, probably 'cos it takes such a long time for it to be delivered??!!LOL

The BST wheels are great, they look good and you can feel the difference even going from the Oz wheels to the carbon ones. Mind you If I had to pay full price for them I would probably never have considered buying them but at a grand for the pair they woz a bargin.

I presume you got a deal on a S/Hand pair? a grand would certainly be nice!. I've spent nearly 4 grand on carbon already, but hey the weight saving allows me to eat all the pies!.

RSV Chris. cheers fo rthe link mate, I spoke with Russ and he seemed really hlepful and it sounded promising that he could repair or make me a new panel(yeah i crashed-doh)
I owe you a beer matey!
Andy

Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear you crashed, hope it didn't do too much damage to you or the Mille?.

Glad I could be of help with the link and payments in Stella are gratefully accepted:biggrin

Can't believe you've spent nearly 4K on carbon, when I saw that I totalled up what I've spent and it works out at £3.2k including £1k for the BST Carbon wheels off ebay. I thought I'd replaced everything I could on my bike with carbon fibre but you must've fitted a Carbon Fibre Frame & Swing Arm too?

Cheers
Chris

not quite the swingarm matey, but all the bodywork and everything I could find is now carbon (over24 items, includind M/c covers, rad divider, airscoops, panel trimsengine and clutch covers, exhaust hanger, sprocket cover, mirrors etc etc.), just need the wheels ..and still waitng for the tank.I included thet in the 4k total(and it was a grand). Just seen the new prices for BST's 1,895 ouch!. Still fancy a pair though!
Yeah I crashe dthe mille whilst getting some knee down action, swiftly followed by elbow, shoulder and head!. Wrote off the front fairing, belly pan, clip on and scrapped feck out of the exhaust, A grands bill and I couldnt walk for a week!. AND this was three weeks before my trip with the lads to Mugello...but I made it with the bike back together.!!(it performed faultlessely over1800 miles.I love prillas! PS me mate has a carbon mille too .so thats three of us now ;-)

Yep sounds like you've replaced about as much as I have in Carbon fibre, it becomes an obsession after a while hunting down all the parts. Would love to get a tank for mine but they don't seem to make Carbon tanks for the 98-00 model.

Nearly got an ex-wsb one off ebay last year which looked like it would fit. Good luck with the tank from OPP let us know what its like when you get it.

Out of interest have you weighed your Mille since fitting the Carbon?

Cheers
Chris

yes it does become an obsession don tit LOL, I know evrything about carbon now!!. Just had def confirmation tank is on its way to OPP yeehaaww.
havent weighed it yet, need to find a weighbridge, wot did yours come up ?
I'm hoping with all the carbon and Titanium I'm at about 174. wet.
I saw the very same tank on ebay but lost out too. are you sure the tanks are different? I thought it was only the seat and side panels that were different? (and the fact that its metal not resin)
I talked with Russ at rawteck like you suggested and he said the rs250 tank cost 350 to be covered, my mate is considering that route for his 01.
cheers Andy

Good news about the tank:thumbup

When I got mine Mot'd a few weeks ago the guy there put some scales under the front wheel and then the rear wheel individually. It worked out at 95kg front and 80kg rear which I guess makes it 175kg total wet with the BST wheels fitted, I reckon yours should be somewhere near with the Carbon Tank.

You can fit the 01-03 tank on the early milles but you then need the 01-03 side panels as the early sidepanels won't fit, my original plan was to make my mille look bog standard but with everything in carbon. Still thinking about getting my tank covered by Russ at Rawtech, the only downside is he needs the tank for a few weeks and at the moment I'd rather be out riding the bike, at least while the suns shining. Might get it covered over the winter.

I think Russ also does a Carbon Fibre undertray, have you got one of these on your Mille? Thinking about getting one of them too:biggrin

Cheers
Chris

yeah I cant beleive it myself, six fekin months..mind you their carbon is very good as they use epoxy resin not the cheaper and cloudier/greyier polyester resin. so fingers crossed.
ooooh you are naughty, he didnt mention the carbon undertray! will have to speak to him about that now aswell!! If you find out the price let me knoe please.
Wow, 175 wet (seem to remeber they are about 208 wet as std?) sounds excellent indeed, mine should be about the same considering all the titanium i have on it.It certainly feels light.
Why not get a cheap fleabay tank and get that covered whilst you ride the bike!
cheers Andy
