Went to start the millie and shes having none of it. Turning over fine but just keeps soaking the plugs. Had them out a dozen times even bought new ones. Getting a spark but she wont burst into life. Even with no choke and no throttle she fouls the plugs. I've just drained the tank and now on my way to get fresh fuel but any other ideas i'd gladly try.
Cheers

One common cause of flooding these bikes is the battery not turning over the engine fast enough. Is it kept on an Optimate battery conditioner? Also the starter solenoid may well be a bit lazy unless it's already been replaced

when this happens to mine, I usually turn choke off, pin the throttle open and fire it up, works but apparently bad for the sprag, and you don't wanna mess with the sprag.

I agree with LEGS. If its flooding then obviously fuel is getting through ok so check the battery and relay. Those two big pistons take a mighty shove to swing em over compression and if you have any problems starting, you dont wanna be turning it over with anything but a perfectly good battery or youll bugger the sprag. Besides this, those two bits are the easiest to check and replace so should be your first port of call.

Thanks

Thanks for the fast replies. Its is kept on a oximiser battery thingy but to be honest i've never trusted it as the lights on it never change. Do ya think it would be ok to jump it off an old car battery i have in the garage, it is fully charged ?

I've done this myself on another motorcycle just to see if it was the battery causing the problem. It was and nothing was damaged. The bike started as it should.

All the bike wants is 13.2 volts or so and enough copper to carry the amperage. You might want to check the terminals for security.

Sprags do not like flat batteries!

ive had this problem aswell i took the plugs out left it over night cleaned the plugs next day put the plugs back in full choke and it went first press i also turned it over with the plugs out the day before there was loads of fuel in the pots but after a night to dry them out no probs..... its worth a try

I've jumped a bike with a car a couple of times w/o incident. I've heard it can be damaging to the electronics if bike continues to not start but you just keep cranking it. I would say give it a shot but if its a battery problem then it would be very slow to turn over in the first place and then you would know where your problem lies.

I haven't had any starting problems my since I got the 16AH super battery with extra cold cranking power! it fits perfect! I will post pictures sometime. try using a small car battery and see... dont use a truck battery or a big one! well I did and got away with it cuz I'm super Yellow and I used small guage cheap 1 dollar jump start cables. lol
