Just checking before I order and get em fitted! I know some brands of 190`s can foul the chain while 55`s can rub the hugger when hot...
Anyone had issues with this model of tire in that size on a 01/02 mille???
Thanks in advance ;)

oops sorry mine is diablo rosso 2 190 * 50 last tyre was a 180 * 55 diablo corsa . Nice grippy tyre but can`t afford to replace my tyres every 1000 miles lol. 2 laps of silverstone didn`t help admittedly.

Cheers guys! much appreciated.
Teflon, how in the hell did you do just two laps of silverstone??

How much clearance is there with a 190/55 or 180/55? My tyre guy always has part worn Supercorsa's but a lot are now the new 180/60 and on my 6R I had to remove the hugger.

I`v stopped using scrubs on the road now. As my bike is my only transport at the mo, and after about 100 heat cycles they tend to get a tad inconsistant :/ (read dangerous in the cold)

I was looking into this awhile back when i was deciding on what sizes to use. Just google it, I remember seeing somewhere someone dicussing the acutal height of each size of tire... May have actually been apostrophe (rob) on here..

Steve

I think I was just going on about the effect of different rear tyre sizes (and therefore different circumferences) on the speedometer. I've not thought about how close they get to the hugger. Are some huggers more suitable than others with big tyres? Possibly.

i have an Edwards carbon hugger and my 180/55 rear has about 30mm clearance to the hugger at the centre and 23mm at the sides.

Just done some quick calcs and think that the 190/55 is about 6mm bigger in radius than a 180/55 so should be about 6mm closer to the hugger.

Assuming that:
a) my actual tyre has done about 2K miles so it's probably smaller than it was when new
and b) the 2 tyres being compared have the same shape (side to side)

You should end up with at least 13mm clearance at the sides and 20mm in the centre.

As I say it's all a bit theoretical and you'd only know for sure by trying it out.

Rob :)

I had a Dunlop 190/60/17 on '00 , RSV-R no problems. ( The OZ rim was wider than some though, which will lower the profile as compared to a slightly narrower rim )
