Answers Needed- Hesitation upon acceleration

Hello All,

Had the 2008 RSV1000 (completely stock) out during a very hot summer day- well into the 90's F. Out on the open highway, I was holding steady throttle and noticed a slight surging. I rolled the throttle quickly wide open and the bike hesitated and then lunged forward. I repeated this several times and could duplicate the hesitation upon acceleration and I could duplicate the surging at steady throttle.

What's going on here? Is this a normal characteristic of the RSV (this is my first)? Did the heat play a role in this? The bike's temp gauge was pushing 200 degrees F.

The weather is cooling a bit now and i will take her out again and try to make the surging/hesitation happen once more. I'm just curious if other 2008 RSV riders experienced the same.

Thanks,

Desmo

the rotax engine does this. at least in comparison to v90 twins. if you sit on a rsv after riding a ducati you think it is completely fcked. you need to rev it over 8000 to get rid of the hole
checkout the torque line

Theruck, that is quite a drop off in the power curve between 5 and 6 thousand rpm! Looks like a pipe will cure a lot of it. All my other bikes have had aftermarket pipes. I kinda like the quieter stock noise from time to time. I guess I'll live with the hole and use the upper reaches of he powerband. You are also correct in that my Ducati's (thankfully) didn't have this issue. I didnt know that about Aprilia's. Thanks for the insight.
