Sorry to be pain, but iv had the bike a week and the battery is dead, which isnt really the proble,

Its a few yrs old so to be expected anyway and the garage are sorting me a new one.

However.....my Datatool system 3 wont let me disconnect the battery to charge it in the meantime..without the alarm going off.

I have tried putting the alarm in service mode but it beeps every 15 secs and the neighbours arnt impressed already lol:biggrin.

However now, it would seem the immobiliser has kicked in as ignition goes on and wont fire up at all (the red triangle is on the clock now)...
Have i tripped something? What do i do? Is there an easier way to dc battery in future?

Apreciate your help wiv the sprockets too!!

Also I know there is a Datatool pin that you override alarms with etc...hat happens if your the second owner and dont know what the first one was..doh:confused

My battery discharged the other week and my optimate didn't appear to be working effectively so I took the drastic measure of attaching my car battery charger to the battery...didn't disconnect for the reasons above but once charged started a treat and had no further problems. Prior to doing this the bike was refusing to fire ( just a faint click from the starter) and the warning triangle was on the dash plus oil warning figure ( indicating low oil pressure - not true as oil checked & ok previously). Checking the battery charge using the dash indicated 11.5 volts, which would be more than enough to turn over an in line 4 but that twin is a beast. The nightmare I think arises from the lights being permanently on when you turn the ignition switch...not the cleverest of systems BUT I guess safe as you don't have to think about putting the lights on! Hope you get it sorted!!

You may have "spiked" the alarm system causing it to completely or partially not respond during disarming and immobilise the motorcycle. This is generally caused by the reconnection of the motorcycles battery without the alarm fuse being removed or the alarm being in service mode. The system can be "de-spiked" using the "de-spike" instructions available as a PDF that you can download in the support section.
To avoid this happening we recommend you always put the alarm into service mode and remove the alarm fuse prior to charging the battery.

TO de spike your alarm

OR try this sequence...may or may not work

press the round button of the key fob (just to switch alarm off) –

turn on the ignition –

press and hold the round button until you hear a beep and release button –

press and hold the round button until you hear a beep and release button –

press and hold the round button until you hear a beep and release button –

turn the ignition off and back on and start the bike

if bike starts you may hear the service mode beep....turn off bike and press round button again

This sequence resets the alarm, if the alarm has been wired slightly wrong sometimes you will get your bike idling at 4000 rpm....this sequence stops the fast idle
