You seem to be growing very rapidly, if I can put it that way! :blush About me, I've just left a year long relationship with a Ducati 748. Absolutely fabulous bike to ride but there are so many horror stories out there about servicing costs, rocker failure, dodgy electrics etc. I thought I would be OK (don't we all) as I pampered mine quite a lot, cleaning, regular oil changes, warmed up properly, gentle riding to start off, but no. Last service, 12K, 8 of the 16 rockers needed replacing. £1K service bill :kicknuts later I thought I'm not leaving myself open to another of these and so I took a RSV1000R out for a demo ride.

WOW!

Although larger to look at in size than the 748 it felt really light when I picked it up off the sidestand. Took it out for a spin and it was lovely. Deep thumping twin, very responsive, very flickable, comfortable on the wrists. Put the deposit down and now the proud owner.

I've managed to get a couple of rides in in the last week and a half, in between work and the weather and hopefully should get out on it tomorrow. It's in the Bol D'or colours. When I saw these in a picture didn't like them at all. Then saw it in the flesh and it didn't seem so bad, took it for a ride and fell in love with it. As I rode it I thought I don't really CARE what colour this bike is! Having had a great ride on it yesterday I even love the very noticeable colour scheme now! :love2 I'll post some pics when I take her somewhere attractive and the sun is shining..... could be a long wait!

Looked around for an active web site and didn't find this one until today, for some reason. Great addition as it does keep the spirits up in the 'orrible UK winter to read other peoples thoughts and experiences. There also seems to be quite a lot of members who live in warmer climes as well. They can tell us what it's like to ride in the sun as we sit in 0 degrees looking at the trees bent double in the wind!

Noticed the 12/7/08 meet and should be able to make that and meet some of the faces behind the names on here. Looking forward to a longer relationship with this one

Thanks for the speedy welcome people. I managed to get a list of torque settings that covers the Mille up to '03, I think it was. Right click HERE and 'Save Target AS'.

I just find it easier to have all the torque settings in one place rather than flipping through a whole manual for each setting I want.

Hey nice one, very handy to have i dont think the settings on the new shape rsv will be a million miles off, better than what i normally do on the bike and at work, we all do it trump tight ( as in keep on tightening until the straining makes ya trump)...........:thumbup

Welcome to the fold fella:thumbup

Torque settings can have some differences, one very important one which we all need is the spindle clamps at the bottom of the fork leg on the ohlins bikes, the older bikes were 22nm whereas the newer ones are just 12nm, if you overtighten these you will possibly finish up with cracks in the fork bottoms, so just be careful with settings for different models guys:thumbup

Alright there matey, another Northants RSV owner...no doubt we'll catch up with you sooner or later...all the best!!!!!

Badger, I've put a note in the file stating the torque difference, just to make people aware. Thanks for that, I have the newer model with Ohlins!

NewBoots, noticed you were close by earlier. Hopefully in the summer (?) we'll catch up with one another on a rideout.

Thanks for a great welcome folk!

Hello Dave nice to see you on the forum, The way things are going we'll soon be able to start our own Northampton Aprilia sub section

I was thinking that it's pretty fortunate having so many of us in Northants! It's funny isn't it. Can't say I've ever noticed Aprilia's around and yet you buy one and suddenly they're everywhere!

Welcome dave:thumbup, i just popped up to say hello from one more northants rsv fan :thumbup

Filling up for petrol the other week and 2 cheeky northants monkeys blasted past like it was moto gp :devious, it was near rockingham racetrack.

Mmmm, not sure about near Rockingham , but I know that Sharky & myself had a bit of a drag race down the A45, leaving our dear friend Electro in the distance ( well it looked that way in my mirrors)......I'm not quite sure about Moto Gp but it was certainly BSB-type committment as judged by the wrench felt in my arms and the rear seat pod poking me in the arse!!!:devious:thumbup

Waiting for some reasonable weather. Gave it a good clean and spent the afternoon in the garage with her today. If the weather's not too bad tomorrow I'll get out there and take some because I do like to have pictures of my own bike rather than the publicity ones I currently have!

Remind me never to work with you mate :biggrin:biggrin:biggrin

My Baby

Wheeled her out this morning to get some piccys, always like to get them when I've just cleaned her!!

'course, would have looked even better if only THE BLOODY SUN WOULD SHINE. Not that I'm frustrated you understand, having a new bike and not having the weather to ride it :angry
