Angel Eyes!

Hi folks,

Just bought a set of angel eyes for my 03 millie. On reading the installation instructions, is says about seperating the lens from the reflector to put the light filaments in. To do this they say to put the headlight unit in an oven at 100 deg C to soften the glue allowing the reflector and lens to be seperated. Now personally, i'm not too sure about sticking a plastic headlight into an oven and ending up with a big pile of molten plastic! Anyone done this or have any other suggestions? I'll stick photo's on as things progress!

Personally i'd use a hot air gun and work carefully on one corner to see if you can soften the glue enough for this method to work...straight into the oven is scary. :D

I might add, i have never done either. :dunno

I have done the same sort of thing with a mates Toyota Corolla t-sport to black out the headlight surrounds......

we failed.... the lense started to melt before the silicone so we too used a heat gun but you HAVE to be super carefull other wise it just turns to sludge!

takes TIIIIIIIIIIIIME too but id have thought well worth it!

lots of info on car forums about "blacking out" headlight surrounds, will see if i can find some for you, i'd have thought it'd be the same sort principle....

ride safe Olllie

I put my daughters FIAT head lamps into the oven to repair the motor mounts that tip the lights up and down . Remember though your not Roasting a Turkey, just enough time to soften the glue and off they pop 3-5 mins tops 2 mins to get it soft when your done and pop them back on........

They are thermo plastic I think so should be the same...

Sounds a lot scarier than it is :)
