DMG has finally reached a deal with Laguna Seca that will see the coastal California track host the 2010 AMA Pro Racing series during the same weekend MotoGP will be using the facility. This news comes as a relief, as the provisional AMA Pro Racing calendar left the historic track, as well as Miller Motorsports Park and Topeka off its 2010 schedule.
Normally, as will occur in 2010, the AMA racing series provides an interlude to the MotoGP only event held at Laguna Seca (125Gp & 250GP do not race at Seca), making the weekend a mixture of both domestic and premiere racing. With this news, DMG has started informing teams to start booking hotel rooms for the weekend of July 25th, 2010.
Money was the likely hold-up on DMG’s ability to secure the Laguna Seca track, and is also likely to be the issue with Miller Motorsports Park. With DMG reeling from Honda’s withdrawl from the series, along with other fiascos in the series, we suspect the track owners were looking for better deals than the DMG has given them in the past. Stay tuned as we hope to hear about Miller being added to the schedule, while Topeka seems to have been completely ruled out of the 2010 calendar.
In other news, we here at A&R have added DMG’s involvement with AMA Pro Racing to our 2010 Dead Pool.
