Am i lacking power?

Hi Guys

Finally coming to terms with the noises from my engine
Every other mille I come across seems to have about the same level of engine noise so im just going to live with it.

I have another question regarding power

My bike accelerates fairly rapidly to 100 + mph and so far i have hit 128 mph
It feels like it will go faster but don't seem to have enough road left to see what she will do.

Power and acceleration seem to be strongest between 5k rpm and 9.5k rpm
It pulls quite strong in this range but not really mind blowing.

I haven't really got anything to comapre it with but my old Buell 1200 firebolt was appx 100bhp and the mille feels a good chunk stronger than that, my other bike is a zx12r which is obviously more powefull than the mille.

I should also say that i am a bit of a heavy weight over 18st geared up and the bike has standard sprockets. I'm pretty sure the bike has been de-restrcted and I have fitted a CarbonCanCompany end can but power wise it doesnt seem much different to the standard can

Also vibration levels throgh the bars seem higher when i hit 7k rpm and above.

Would you say all of this was normal for the mille?

Thanks

you need to get out with another mille mate and see if it keeps up, will be organising a ride out for people all being well before end of month just waitin to see what am working, come along.

Yep pretty normal. Firstly you need to check what gearing your bike is running. Standard for your model is 17/42. RSV Mille are way too overgeared as standard. Drop 2 teeth off the front to a 15 tooth or if you want new chain and sprockets go 16/44 with a 110 link chain. You'll be totally amazed at how this transforms the bike. This with also help smooth the bike out.

Sounds about right..My bike previous to mine was an 02 R1 and the RSV when I first got it, felt slow, with a noticeable lack of torque..
I thought I'd made the wrong decision when I bought it, but said I'd give it a year..Still got it 2 years later. You have to 'ride' these bikes as totally different from the sterile efficient Jap bikes..

Regarding engine noise..As stated in previous posts, it's hard to say unless back to back with another..Mine obviously has more mechanical noise than a Jap Four, but wouldn't say its intrusive, in fact after a long hot run, it sounds reasonably quiet..

The vibes you get, dunno..Again mine feels quite smooth..Does yours need the throttle balancing?

Hope you get sorted

Also I think these bikes 'hide' the actual speed very well.....I mean, at say 70mph on a wide road mine feels like its stood still - probably the fairly high seating position and lazy 2 pot as opposed to a 4 cylinder.

Only had mine 1 month or so but coming to terms with it. Had a bit of a do with a modified 53 plate r6 last weekend and conclusively blew it away :devious. I was a little dubious about the inline performance prior to this. Stick with it mate I'm sure it'll grow on you.

as said, alter the gearing mate, makes a big difference.
i make you look anarexic and mine pulls like a bastard, and thats just with a 16t front on.
going down to a 15t front next.
luvly bikes these milles, luv mine to bits.
