Hello Folks

I am Rohan from Vintage Auto World and we are engaged in fabricating aluminum fuel tanks.

We are also planning to make Aprilia aluminum fuel tanks and would would need your advice on which Aprilia tank do we start with first?

We are already fabricating Ducati aluminum tanks and looking forward to increase the range of Aluminum fuel tanks for other Italian brands.

Looking forward to read from members :)

Cheers!

A polished alloy tank to fit a gen1 rsv would suit me

Great! Thanks for the reply. I am not very familiar with Aprilia and would like to know what year is the generation 1 RSV so that I can look for a similar sample tank. Once we make a copy of the tank in aluminum, we will send it to you so that you can check it on your frame and once you approve, we will start a batch of 5 / 10 tanks.

gen 1 = 98-00 then 01-03 slightly different shaped tanks fits on same frame

gen1 98-00

You will make yourselves a fortune if you can produce a RSVR GenII Tuono (same thing) ali tank.
The oem tanks are prone to swelling if too much ethonol based fuel is used.

Post a weblink please and I'll forward it on :)

Tifa, I am in the process of sending them a Gen 2 tank, will let you all know when I recieve the prototype.

Not yet sorted mate, we will also be sending a gen1 and rsv4 tank. I will post pics and prices once sorted.

I'm well interested in getting an alloy tank for a 01-03 RSV! Ultimately it will come down to price, if it's reasonable then these will sell well given the ethanol issue. When looking to manufacture these have a think about where the tank prop stand can sit without the risk of bending anything or the tank falling. Here's a picture of an early RSV with the tank hinged up and held on the OEM tank stand: http://i26.tinypic.com/29z34wj.jpg

If you could also find away of creating more volume then this may add value to the product for those people who prefer to ride more than refuel!
Good luck with this.

Make one for the RSV4, the fuel consumption is so high and the tank fairly small that if the price was fair you'd sell a fair few.

I would buy an aluminum tank for my 03 RSV Mille R in a heart beat if you actually end up making them. I'm so sick of the ethanol causing the nylon tanks to swell that an aluminum tank would be such a huge relief!

Assuming they're high quality, lightweight, and they fit like factory, I would buy one FOR SURE!

You found the post then:thumbup

I sure did! It would be so nice to have a tank for my Mille that I don't have to worry about the damn ethanol swelling it!
