Have an 07 RSVR and at moment no alarm, think it might be a good idea :confused

I have seen an Aprilia alarm, has anyone tried it or got any recommendations as to what might be an alterantive. :dunno

On my 748 I had a Meta, and never had a problem

you're best bet is the datatool system red it rates as one of the best around at the moment

Have a 04 rsvr and had no end of trouble with the alarm :jack until Andy at Southern Cross came to the rescue and sorted it in next to no time :doug Had drama's for ages before he worked his magic :thumbup

Won't bore you with the details, but just give you the advise that it is sometimes more hastle having an alarm, plus it drains the battery mate.

By the way it was a Datatool 3.

my TL has a datatool alarm anoying as foke, and its just an imobiliser!

As your not riding all year there really isnt much point in getting an expensive alarm as i dout you leave it alone for long times in doddgy areas

Also end of the day alarm or not, it really isnt going to stop this sort of thing is it

Try getting insurance quote with and with out an alarm..sometimes theres only a couple of quid difference between the quotes.if so whats the point of having an alarm :confused :confused

if not stick with wot you know.

Although I ride quite a bit I don't have an alarm on mine. When I stop for a bite to eat, smoke etc I never go that far from the bike in any case. As said above, it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference to the insurance prices and lots of people have all sorts of problems with their bikes because of the alarm.

Cheers for the replies, think I'll wait and see what happens at insurance renewal time. Couldn't insure mt 748 without an alarm !!

I'm sure I can find a much better use for £300 than an alarm anyway

Aprilia and Datatool had an issue where the alarms were connected incorrectly causing running problems but that is an easy fix.
From what I've have been told over the years, the Meta sounds the more reliable system.

I personally wouldn't bother getting an alarm unless your insurers insist on it, just buy a top quality chain / lock / ground anchor combo from Almax.

i want to go steal that lads bike just to shut him the **** up. even if he did come running around the cournor going "you've moved my bike" whats some little 15 year old going to do...

been using a spyball system since i got the pinkslip for her.. it works just fine. It's quite loud, and the motion center is not too sensible.

I live in Denmark (cold, rainy, night frost, rim etc) hard conditions for the electronics. + i wash more often than other riders, and the alarm havent been at any trouble though these living conditions..
