my rsv has been off the road since a week before x-mas, although with all the snow and ice up here it was probably a good thing.

It conked 100 yards from work and refused to respond to the alarm blipper

After the usual 3 hour wait for the AA and transport back, found the fuse was blown, so after looking at a thread on here decided to pop in a new fuse, which was greeted by plumes of smoke from the alarm.

could'nt get an alarm guy out until after new year. And just to make it worse the alarm is discontinued so he could not slot a box in, and had to give it the full monty and wire a newer version back into the loom.

Anway that was my x-mas pressy to me, a new alarm. Tyres next as the rear is looking a bit sorry for itself.

on the up side, it sat outside for the duration covered in snow but started first press of the button

Bit frustrating! you know they never work properly when you need them to protect your bike! Ive always used datatool system 3 on my bikes and never had any trouble(yet!!) but you need a optimate or they knack your battery quickly.

I just ripped my datatool sys3 out...got sick of the beeping when working on the bike :roll

i set mine up so the movement sensor is operated seperately not on self arm(if that makes sense) i think most shops set it up so that it totally arms itself immob and motion sensor after 30 secs, most work can be done then without putting the alarm in service mode. However i do have to agree its f**king annoying when its doing it - even worse when you go into a dealers and there are 20 of them doing it at the same time!!

I've got that very same alarm fitted to mine and as soon as I can afford it it's going in the bin.

It has given me no end of problems, fails to disarm, arms by itself, flashes the indicators randomly, I could go on forever but I won't.

After reading up on alarms I can see that these bikes are not alarm friendly, however the preferred alarm appears to be the latest Datatool S4 - C1.

If you shop around you can get them fully fitted for around £200, which I think is not bad at all.

I think i'm going to invest in a good disc lock instead. No-one takes any notice of alarms anyway these days :jack
There is an alarm imobiliser cicuit on the ECU, I think i'm just going to wire an on/off switch into that and fit it somewhere out of sight and use it as a manual imobiliser what do you think :dunno

Best thing I ever done for my Mille was get rid of the alarm, it was a huge pain in the arse.
Funnily enough after it was ripped out I never had a battery/starting problem ever again!
