Hi lads, considering doing some advanced training. possibly the bike safe workshop with Essex police, before you all start tongue lashing me, nothing booked yet and what ever anyone says the police system is still the best advanced riding method. may go the ROSPA route, however the question is the same. i dought either will appreciate the wonderful sound of an unbaffled RSVR, so for training and assessment rides the baffles may have to go back in. does anyone know of any detrimental affect of running baffled cans on map2. having spoken to a couple of dealers, they change the map to map2 with or without cans as they say the bike still runs better. thought please, mainly on the map issue rather than the advanced riding training. cheers.

hi don't think it makes any differance when mine were fitted with map 2 the baffles were left in from the dealer.

Running with the Akra baffles in won't cause any effect at all on Map2 so no need to worry Hero. I'm supprised that some dealers are saying they are running MAP2 with standard cans though. MAP2 is open loop so does away with the Lambda sensor. The standard cans have catalitic convertors in. Not sure if it's a good idea as theres's a chance of knackering up the cats.

The trainers on the ROSPA training courses don't really mind about the baffles being in or out, as long as the bike is taxed and tested it's a personal choice on your part.
However if you are doing this kind of training I would recommend that you make sure you can see behind you properly, as we all know sports bike mirrors aren't that great, so maybe some extenders would be an idea. The reason being is ROSPA training generally doesn't involve radio use, it relies on you looking behind to see which way the instructor was you to go by keeping an eye on thier indicators, when you do the test it's the same, it's the ROSPA way of getting you to do effective rear observations.

thanks rockdotor, already have the mirror extensions from budsywoo, mirrors are now no worse than my ZX9R:thumbup

Hi HB, I'm a senior observer (trainer) with the IAM and I can tell you we too don't care about the silencers. We're interested in making you a safer rider not making your bike quieter. Other advise re mirrors is spot on - but you've already got that covered. If you're still worried about the map and possible problems then go along with the baffles out. They'll soon tell you if they don't like it. Good luck with it anyway,
