Airbox mods

I know there have been many discussions on airbox mods but has anyone tried removing the engine breather pipe and possibly the slipper clutch system from venting inside the airbox, as both of these could increase the temperature with in the air box which effectifly will reduce horsepower, the hotter the intake air gets the hp is produced.
I guess with some of the airbox mods this is achieved but I just wonder if anyone played around with this idea on the standard airbox.:doug

Surely the cool air coming into the box from the air intake snouts would decrease the airbox temp??

It's quite possible that the cold air coming in does reduce the temperature in the airbox to some degree but with the heat from the engine rising and the crankcase breather dumping hot air in there, I am guessing this would have an impact of keeping the air temperature inside higher than the outside ambient air.

doing an airbox mod and planning to site the breather through a filterunder airbox. does the renegade system have a tee piece and a oil drain or does the filter absorbe the oil?
if it does how wet does it get and can that restrict breathing?

On my Renegade there was no facility for the breather. I mounted a filter next to the air filter (on the top of the plate, not under as you plan to) and ran the breather pipe to it. Yes, it gets a bit wet but no way is it enough to get into the air filter. I give it a wipe round about once every 3K miles.
