It is there to reduce induction noise & reduce intake pulses below 6.5k or 30 percent throttle

Rip it out, not needed. Prop flap open. K&N air filter, Map 2, open cans! problem solved

Balls. I just put mine back in as someone told me that it made the bike run smoother at lower RPM. It was a right job doing it. Not hard to do, just time consuming.

There are ridges inside the intake to stop water from being driven in, I have seen a post somewhere where someone smoothed all of them out. I don't know if this would make any difference as well.

Yep, I did that, ground them down , bit of filler here and there ,sanded smooth couple of coats of red paint and a few coats of clear coat, nice clear path for the air flow now into the pipercross filter now. Does take a bit of time doing it, but I think worth it. Befor and after.

thats pretty awesome looking, but like, arent you a little bit worried what happens when autumn/fall comes and leaves are flying all over the place...

im talkin about the front grill removed btw - also is that a gopro mount added :D

You want to be careful you dont go sucking up birds and small children lol

Yeah it's a gopro mount to get some footage of track action etc, to be honest I've never had any probs with leaves, rodents, small kids etc, :loll, getting in there, if it did there's a feck off big pipercross filter covering the throttle bodies to stop anything but air getting into the engine.:biggrin.

hmm i wasnt worried so much about the stuff getting in engine, more that you could be happily riding along one minute, the next the bike runs like crap and you have to pull apart alot of things to remove the giant leaf now blocking half of your air intake ;)

gotta confess i am really tempted to do that, did you spray the intake red yourself? really looks nice!

Yeah did it all myself, took it all apart to remove the flapper valve, fill and smooth it out etc, does take a bit of time to do but worth it I think.
