Hi anybody got any experiance of AGV GP Tech helmets. I've only been looking at some dodgy reviews that haven rated them too highly. Does anybody have any positive experiance.

Wasn't that the top of the range lid? I had the Ti-Tech that went before it, light and comfy with good ventilation and did just what was expected of it when it was needed, i cant see it being a bad helmet at that level and surely if it fits you properly it'll do its job.
How it fits you personaly is far more important than any review, go to a reputable shop with decent staff and try one, might not suit you anyway, i love Shoei helmets but for how they fit my head i may as well be wearing a bucket.

I recently changed from Arai to the Shoei XR1100 the fit feels really comfortable but I just get the sensation that it's going to come off my head at speeds in excess of about 110 the next size down was a squeeze to get on & squashed my cheeks. I guess I'll just have to try one. George White has got a really good deal on the AGV at the moment which means I won't mind losing too much dough if I decide to change.

Worth trying are KBC lids, excellent value for money and a very 'shoei type' fit, only reason I haven't bought one is i can't get my specs in because of how the lining fits. Arai's were made for me with Shoei a very close second. Never been able to get an AGV lid that fits which is a great annoyance as they have the best (Rossi) designs out there.

I have a Rossi dreamtime GP Tech. I really rate it as a lid, great quality, comfortable, and quiet - it's the quietest lid I've ever owned. It is quite obviously a race / track lid - it's the right size for me but a very close fit, the padding hasn't given much at all in probably 4-5000 miles.

Lids are obviously a very personal thing, but I rate the GP Tech highly, and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Nooooooo, don't so it. Like you say, look good, excellent value for money & am sure they tick all the safety boxes but the nioseiest lid I've ever worn. Turn to check your blind spot & the wind whistles through sounding like a car tooting it's horn causing you to hesitate, I kid you not. Very off putting, thought maybe just mine but out of curiosity asked 3 other guys I saw with KBC lids & all said the same.

Arai all the way for me, on my 3rd one now. Perfect fit, comfy, light & quiet. I like the shoei's but they just don't seem to fit my potatoe head very well.

Another bloody minefield. Wish I'd never got rid of my Arai but it was 10yrs old & due for a change. The Astro R has been replaced with a J which apparently is for a differant head shape. Think I'm just a good old elongated Melon. Is that the same as a Potato??

I visited J&S, Heine Gerick, Demon Tweeks, they all gavce the impression that Arai were on the ebb & that Shoei was the way forward which is why I got the XR1100. Maybe I should just try & get it custom fitted. I measured myn head which is 59cm & just seems to fit between Medium & large. I nbever gave AGHV much attention at the time. Think I'll have a second look. Think Demon Tweeks may be open this afternoon.

The thing is, Arai and shoei are made for different shaped heads and if you fit one the other will always be slightly wrong.
I just bought an HJC carbon, it's no noisier than my old shoei but is half the weight and my specs fit better as well.
Ideally I would have bought an Arai, but couldn't stretch that far this time.
I would recommend that you keep trying different helmets until you get one that is a "right" fit for you.

Had an email the other day to say there is 25% off all AGV's at Racevisors.co.uk at the moment.

Got both agv gp tech and hjc spies rep and I think they are more than a match fir the usual arais and shoies

That's conventional wisdom and I'm sure is true for most people. I however seem to get on on with pretty much all brands of lid - I must have a soft head.

That said, can't get on with Arais (based on trying them on in shops), the chin piece is too close, meaning my wind-tunnel designed nose is wedged against it. Arse.
