Hi,

I have recently fitted a set of MTC cans to my 2007 T R and i think it sounds great, however the other half and some folk at work are moaning and saying that there is no way they can be legal due to the noise. Also some fello bikers say its really load when they are behind me.

Now i have tried to contact MTC to see if maybe the baffles have been removed but on looking at the cans its difficult to see how you would remove them.

My question is has anyone had these fitted they are these ones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aprilia-RSV10...ms=65:1|66:2|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50
IS it simply that the twins are load what like is anyones with the akraprovics fitted??

Cheers

aw rite mate, i fitted bewoulfs to mine and by **** their loooud sets car alarms off with the baffles out, think akras are a bit more tamer, ill bet the fello bikers moaning are running on 4 cylinders and are just jealous lol

I have an arrow single on mine and the noise is deafening - everyone comments. It's just the v60 degree twin. the longer I live with it the more I get used to it, not sure if the neighbours do though!! but it's definately legal.....just!

They're just jealous Scott cos their lesser bikes sound ***** in comparison................"IF IT'S TOO LOUD YOU'RE TOO OLD" :)

Hi Mucker. Hope you're not out chasing them sheep to-night? I was out with a bunch of Ducati guys a few weeks ago, most of them from the east, your neck of the woods. One of them from Dundee and was pulled buy plod that morning and given a couple of tickets, one was for his Termis. Plod couldn't give a **** wither or not they were legal. They didn't have an E number stamped on them so they weren't legal, £30 please Sir and change them Sir, thank you. I've got Mivv Suono's and they come with 2 sets of db killers so you have three options of noise level. I also have a laminated certificate of EU homoligation from Mivv but for what option it doesn't state. This much I do know, if plod caught me riding about with the db killers out I'd be up for an ASBO for shure and the farmers with livestock in there fields would shoot me like a dog for stampeeding their cattle. Anyway stay safe and hope you got yer T sorted after it's wilt. Does it run any better after map2.

Hi Aldo,

Yep its running really well after the map 2 settings, the bloke at skinners had said that it was already on map2 but a really old version, so its night and day compared to what it was like.

Yep my cans have the DB killers installed and they are E marked so should be ok. Will have to give it a try with them removed and see what like that is. Thing with mine is that its only really loud low down in the revs once you open it up its not bad.

Ah feck it who cares sounds **** hot and i aint going back to the old ones.

Bike is all fixed managed to get a new raidiator so the bike got an unexpected coolant flush so all good, also got a new crash bung from R+G they sell half sets so shes all back to normal. Pitty i am stug on a boat offshore gulf of mexico though! Where were you all on your run to?

Cheers

map 2 is for running open exhaust , ie unrestricted by db killers, so you might find if you wip out the db killers you will then get the optimum running from you machine with map 2. What is all this puff you are all harping on about that the exhaust are loud, I think it is just quite mellow with either Acro or better exhaust in my opinion is the Arrow, but without db killers it is just nice. If people do not like the sound of my bike then they can move ! Be proud and keep it LOUD !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbup

Hi mpg. Four of us met in Glasgow, we met another at Tarbet Loch Lomond and went to Tyndrum where we waited for the guys from the east. 3/4 of an hour later they showed up then went for lunch? Anyway sometime later we set off for the Corran ferry and onto Arisaig. Unfortunately for me I had to be home for 6.30 so my mate and I turned for home at Lochailort and headed for Fort William. He wasn't complaining it was his first long run on his Ducati Streetfighter and was getting battered stupid by the wind blast. All said we had a good day, even better for me seeing as it was the first time in over three years we'd riden together.
Cheers Aldo.

lmfao at some of the comments here...

db killers/baffles/ EU markings /...whatever...do not act as a get out of jail card...ever

If your cans are open/closed/cored or even boxed baffled you will still get a fixed penalty if they don't pass a roadside sound level test

I have open Akra Ti's on the T and open Yoshi's on the Honda..you fit your pipes & take your chances chaps....

Curious - what is the noise level?
I have always wondered what the actuall legal limit is.
I have the Akra 2+2 race set-up on my Tuoldo, which just passed it's MOT without the baffles (I got some made) fitted. It's about 95dB at trackday tests, without the baffles, about 90 with them in.

Brilliant road that Arisaig to Fort William now. Its a nice run down loch lomond as well never done it on the bike but i would imagine it would be good done it many times in the car. I used to stay in Mallaig and was up there the other week we went right round the top excellent.
:cheers

pipes, scotland & mpg......

hi all,
must say i love scotland, especially the west coast & highlands (family in fort william & elgin), but can never seem to get up there on the bike as my teenage lads would linch me if they dont go up too!
i run twin akro's on map2 (baffles removed) and love the raw mechanical symphony that sounds like a bike should, if i get a ticket, its a burden of my choice :)
i've not had my tuono long and i was wondering what milage you guys get from a tank? when i've been out for a 'fun' ride through north yorkshires finest twisties and i've had the fuel light come on after only 76 miles, is this normal? and have any of you guys seen any benefit from fitting a power commander?
cheers, rob:thumbup

Hi Rob,

You should deffinetly get the bike up there its brillian.

These bikes are rubbish on the old go go juice i had a rather nice blast the other week over the west coast and my light was on at 86miles so you are giving it bigger licks than me good on you!

If i take it easy like comute to work i get the light around 100miles and the other day i managed to push 130miles but the bike took 17.6ltrs so was right at the limit.

I always try to brim the tank at each fill and i would say average for me 110miles so i think yours is fine you were just giving it some. I have read that they are fuel guzzlers.

Power commander i was also contemplaiting this option but not sure, now the bikes on the latest map its well fast enough for me the now. I have been quoted £450 to supply and map the bike with a PC3 on the dyno. These bikes also need an 02 sensor which is another £30 i think, let us know if you go with the PC3 and how it is.

My folks stay in Fort William, god it always rains there though.

Cheers
Mark

hey up mark,
you got me thinking..... it might cost me a box of chocolates but next time we go up visiting i'll take the tuono, the wife can take the car up with the boys, sorted!:cheers
i normally get around 87 to the light and have seen nearly a ton but i suppose i do have a 15 tooth front sprocket and only really use it on fast a & b roads (they only have a 4 speed box, right?), so i guess when i'm having fun the mpg ain't gonna be great...:yes
i enquired at my local dynojet centre and if i remember correctly i was quoted £380 for a pc3 with a custom map done...... i just dont know if the tuono would be that much better as it feels good, runs smooth and pulls like tank as it is?:thumbup
cheers, rob

Yeh mine has the same problem only 4 gears! Dont know why they bother with the other 2 really.

I am thinking the same mine is brilliant without it so dont think i will bother, the windy roads are where these things come into there own. Hence you will love it up the highlands with it just brilliant!

Hope you have fun the next time, drop a note and maybe can meet up for a blast.

:cheers
