Advised needed for sprocket sizes

Morning helpers,
I'm in a bit of bother I ordered a chain set 15/42 106 link, but received 16/44 106 link, as the guy said it was the same ratio (44 sprocket looks like a stunt bike sprocket ) anyway I was chatting to a buddy ov mine and he reckons aving a 44 on with the original size 16 front I'm gonna be needing a 108-110 link chain can anyone shed any light on this before I fit it? Thanks guys

Dunno about the chain length, but if you ordered 15/42 then thats what they should have sent you.

There is an old post on here somewhere with a spreadsheet attached with all the gearing calc's....

At the end of the day you placed an order for 15/42....you didnt ask them for advice.... Id ask them to send the goods you ordered... but thats me !!

Well first off,...I would tell the guy that sold you the sprocket set to **** off and supply the correct sizes.This is for a Gen2,I guess?
As for the ratio's,...technically he is correct,...but I seem to remember a long thread on here where it was found that it was better for the gearbox to use a 15t front sprocket with the larger rear.
If you want to use the 16/44 set,you will need a longer chain.A 108 link should fit.

When I bought mine it had 16/44 fitted and hated running under 3000rpm, changed to 15/42 sorted

Yeh Brooksy that's why I wanted 15/42 as I've read it's the best combo for low revs as apposed to the more hard work through town , I've asked the seller to send me sprockets ov my requested sizes and I'll send the ones he sent

16/44 works fine on a gen 1 but as Keith B says if you ordered something and got something else tell the guy to give you what you ordered. Its like ordering 20 cigs and getting a pasty!

I agree with the guys above. you should have received what you ordered, but for future reference:
