Just got a text from Bubblehead, he has riden to plymouth on the way there , whilst starting after fuel ect,,,,,, metal scaping noises and trouble starting takes 3 /4 goes ,,,but runs fine , do we think it is the sprag clutch ? if it is should he still ride it home ?

I am posting for him as he has no internet as he is on a course.

Sounds like it could be the sprag, but once it's running he should be ok i think as it's only used when starting :thumbup
 
Yeah, almost certainly sprag, should be OK once its started but he needs to do it ASAP to minimise the damage.

When u say minimise damage , just to sprag or will it do more damage to other parts :dunno Because sprags gonna need changing anyway :dunno

I think bubblehead is trying to work out, if to ride it home or get it picked up ,,

Either use smokin joes trailor or if he wants I'm sure we could hire a van and go and pick him up. Anything for a fellow Sailor:thumbup And it's not as if I work:devious

I'm back!!
Firstly thanks to Gasboy for posting and secondly thanks to the rest who offered advice and help.
It got me home no problems at all.
Seems to be starting ok at the moment, a slight pause but then fires up and runs ok.
I had some pretty horrendous weather on the way down Monday morning and i think the bike was just teaching me a lesson for getting her wet???
I'd heard the stories about Aprilia's, should never have got it out in anything but bright sunshine!!
 
Your right about sunny Pompy, the weather down there was arse, I'm flying down to the Falklands to join the Scott while she goes down the Ice so just getting dive kit ready before she goes.
Nothing interesting.
Thats why i took the bike down. Got thanked for that with crap weather and a knackered sprag!

Remember he's a bubblehead, they don't see 0800 onboard, run their own bloody routines, think they're on a bloody cruise while the rest of us save the world and provide the blanket of security that you sleep under.:devious
Even for me 0800 seems early but if that's the only time you're allowed out Pete then so be it:nana
