So I have a problem with the dealer I purchased my new 2016 1100 factory from.
They unfortunately registered my first name wrong on both the reg document and aprilias warranty site.
Now I only spotted this when the reg doc came back and went down to the shop to get it sorted.
Salesman apologised and said it would be sorted. I waited a few weeks and rang them to say no doc yet and he said it was sorted but dvla would take its time. So I wait for the document to come back and guess what, right name and address but aparantly I am now the second owner. (What the f**k). So off I go again to the dealer and he tells me there all idiots and he will sort it. 1 week later ring the rep and he says its sorted. So a few days later and guess what lands through the post. I cheque from dvla for my tax refund made out to the wrong name. Brilliant.
So back down to the f in dealers to blow my stack. Same story told they are incompetent at dvla and he will right them a letter explaining the problem and it will be sorted. I ask am I taxed or what. He says no problems he will sort it and to go ride the bike. Week later a letter from dvla saying they will fine £80 if I don't sorn it or tax it. So of to the fec in dealer again. He says there all tw8ts and rings them while I am there. So it's now sorted aparantly and I am told to go ride my bike and the reg doc will land shortly.
So of for a nice evening ride with me mates last Tue and 1 hour in to a great ride I hear the blues and twos behind me. So pull over and get asked do you know why I have stopped you. Don't know officer nice unmarked car though sneaky git. Well sir is your vehicle all legal. Of course it is and explain all of the above. So the funny bit comes next from the blond haired spotty youth in uniform that is best part of 25 years younger than me. Your bike isn't taxed and Ian nicking you for it. £80 fine on its way. So I politely tell him he's a knob and he says. Don't think your riding it home you can park it up and get it recovered or tax it there and then. We'll no bloody service on my phone in Buxton and no doc ref number to do it any way. So then I have to ring a recovery garage to come and fetch me with his trailer. Back to dealer to kill him but he's on holiday. Have to explain all the above to a stand in who's as shocked as me but not quite as angry. He was a great guy to be fare and taxed the bike there and then but said I would have to sort the rest out with salesman. He said he would get him to ring me when he got back on Tue. Well no phone call yet so he is going to get a smack in the mouth come Sat.
So where do I stand legally I am £65 out of pocket, have a two owner bike now worth less than it is and a fine on its way. Not to mention fuel for God mows how many trips to the dealer.
To say I am ready for smashing some showroom Windows is a understatement.
Sorry for the rant but for gods sake

Get a lawyer and make dealer take it back. Were you told its a second hand bike. Thats BS.

WOW, wonder you've not killed someone in the dealership by now, pity help the sales rep on Saturday!!! As above probably best get some advice from the citizens advice or a lawyer, but you never know, the sales rep might just pull his finger out his *** and sort it, wouldn't hold my breath though. As for the spotty youth cop, just a jobs worth, surely he could see the bike was new should have been taxed if it weren't for the DVLA and there **** up, would have thought a 'please take the bike straight home and sort it with the dealer first thing' would have been a bit more sense :mad:

I had similar issues with the DVLA when I changed my car last year , did a part ex and the dealer transferred the private plate and I taxed it there and then , I thought great how fookin easy was that ,
3 days later got a cheque back from the dvla for a road tax refund on the old car wering its original plate and a cover letter stating it had been recorded I was no longer the owner .
the day after I got another cheque back for the new car tax with the original plate on it , and a covering letter stating that I was no longer the owner of the new vehicle with the private plate on it , and unless I paid them the retention fee I would loose the plate ?? .

I thought fook it seems they think I no longer own either car or the plate .

an hour later a neighbour popped round with my new car reg doc correct name , car , and plate . but delivered to their address . FFs

after a quick and I mean quick call to the DVLA it was all sorted . all legal and complete but I did have to return of which I had a receipt for one lot of tax refund .

DVLA need to get their finger out , it was blamed on a computer hitch . tossers !!!! it could have caused no end of bother .just like pugslee, you get my sympathy vote ..
