i finished making my homemade version of the abba superbike stand ,works well by the way.
HOw much play should there be in the shock linkage, At the moment i can move the swingarm/wheel up about 8mm.
Is this normal?
Also does anybody know how the abba front stand works that looks like it just goes on the bellypan? thanks

I take it you are referring to the dog bone link set up? :dunno

Mine had virtually nil free play in mine after the rebuild, sounds like the bearings may have disintegrated mate.

8mm sounds like an awful lot of movement.

The abba front stand uses the exhaust headers to raise the front. Unfortunately the Mille has an enclosed belly pan and so the abba cannot be used unless you have the belly pan off of the bike as it is not structurally strong enough. You can use an abba stand once it is off, but you'd be better off saving your money and using a normal trolley jack with a piece of wood to spread the weight if you haven't got a front paddock stand.

Have fun :thumbup

I should of realised the headers are on show on most fours! I have/had a front stand (mates had it for years while i wasn't riding)but liked the idea of the front not being compressed.

well done on the diy abba stand mate but
:worthless
:biggrin

i made mine and used a big old plastic paint tub along with some bits of carpet to prop the front up under the bellypan while i took the front wheel out. but i must admit to popping an axle stand back under the spindle while i swapped the tyres.

i used a bit of timber to wedge under the engine block while i had the bellypan off, that way you can remove both wheels or suspensions without issue
