Hello everyone this is my first post on this site but it is not a happy one! Just last week i was the proud owner of a new rsv-r (2003) and todat i was fitting the front wheel and i over torqued the spindle pinch bolts and cracked the lower fork spindle clamp so now i'm very not happy :angry. Just wanted to know if any one has a damaged fork leg i could take it of or a single complete fork leg i could have or know where i could get a new one, have been informed a new one will be £150 which is fine but will be a 3 month wait which i really dont want, It is the right hand side fork leg clamp i have cracked on a 2003 rsv-r which is the last of the old shape rsv but it has the newer style radial mount ohlins forks. If any one could help me in any way i would be eternally greatfull for ever and ever.
Thanks in advance.

hello mate and welcome - sorry to hear about yer bad luck, this is quite a common prob from the overtorquing so you're not alone. I sourced a second hand one from TAZ MC - they're very helpful and I think I paid about £75 + P&P. Give em a call you never know your luck, you can get thier details from the calssified in MCN

cheers

Have you tried talking to K-Tech? It's a long shot but they might be able to get hold of the clamp in under 3 months.

I know this is a bit late, but for anyone else looking in...

SHOWA fork hub clamps, QTY=2+2, SIZE=M8, TORQUE=22 N m
OHLINS fork hub clamps, QTY=2+2, SIZE=M6, TORQUE=12 N m

Note that they should be lubricated with a spot of light oil.

FWIW, I never take mine beyond 10 N m.
