Hello everybody,
I feel a bit of a gatecrasher here as I'm not an Aprilia owner but I am seriously thinking of replacing my Triumph Daytona 955i with an RSV 1000 R and you geezers are in the best position to answer my questions such as:
1. Is the RSV tough enough to handle a 60 mile daily commute? I average around 13000 miles a year.
2. Is the RSV tough enough to handle all year round, all weather riding?
3. How scared should I be when I ask the dealer what the bill is for a service?
My only foray into Italian bike ownership was 2002 when I (stupidly) bought a new Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans. Even though I had it for two years and managed to clock up 24000 miles, it spent a total of SIX MONTHS at the dealers being "fixed". Ironically, one of the reasons I went for the Guzzi was that I was fed up with constant chain maintenance and the bevel drive on the Guzzi broke up! So much for shaft drive! It was my worst bike purchase ever and I do not want a repeat performance.
And Aprilia own Moto Guzzi!
All the other bikes on my list are Jap fours (ZX10, Blade etc.) and, having had a succession of Jap fours through the eighties and nineties, I am looking for something a little different.
Answers on a postcard please.
