Finally got the MOT this morning so decided going back the slightly longer way home, this was my first decent chance to give it some beans.

On aproaching a roundabout with yellow markers on the road I got a bit of bar wobble, possibly light front end on the throttle, and on braking with the gears and a touch of back brake, the rear end seemed to lock up a touch. I though the slipper clutch stopped the wheel locking under engine braking.

Im not worried and as I explained its only my first short blast so it may be all in my head.

I'm definately open for advise on a steering damper though. I cant be tank slapping myself all over lol :roll

RSV-R came with an Ohlins steering damper as standard, 01 standard RSV did not.

Earlier, 98 to 00 RSV had a steering damper, as did the 02 to 05 Tuono, although they are not Ohlins - I have 2 of these int he garage looking for new homes if you're interested ;-)

steering damper might tighten back up after a bit of use if its been sat for ages it might have decharged so to speak. try turning the bars left to right a few dozen times then go for another ride see what you think ??

I cant see a damper on it so I think it hasnt got one.

Cuzza, you have another PM mate.

rear wheel locking.
this could be due to you using the rear brake (the slipper clutch wont stop that)
if the rear gets a bit light under braking there may not be enough force going back to the clutch to make the clutch release and if the rear isnt on the ground even by a millimitre maybe as it skips over a bump or the yellow paint (were they rumble strips) then again the slipper wont release.

i've ridden my mille within an inch of its life and never felt the slipper operate

I'm going to try the same run again but without the back brake.

The rumble strips was when the bars got a bit of a shimmy on! Its a road where you gan give it some beans off a slip road before you get to the roundabout. I may have been a bit heavy with the volume control just as I hit the first strip. Its enough to keep you on your toes.

I'm going to feel happier with a damper fitted I think!

dont worry mate thats what makes these bikes such great fun or would you rather have a pan-poofter couch lol

a15cro, i'd just check the suspension is how it should be also. Should only take about half an hour, just write all the current settings down and see where abouts they are compared to standard.
Steering dampers ? I love my ohlins one, no complaints other than its pretty much impossible to adjust on the mopve with gloves on. I would love it to be mounted across the top! other than that i'd recommend getting one if you regularly go on spirited rides
