a little help with handling

ive had the bike around 5 months now, with little use due to our great weather :crazy,

its a gen 2, love it to bits, but the more im getting to know it , the more im noticing its refusal to corner smoothly at slow speeds, roundabouts being one example, but mainly normal riding on country roads ect, its as though the bike refuses to lean into the bends, if that makes sense, and before i know it im getting thrown out wide either to the centre of the road or the curb edge,

at first i just thought i was carrying to much speed into the bends and needed to get used to the bike, but ive never had an issue riding wise on any of my other bikes,

im now thinking it could be a suspension set up issue :banghead, anyone any ideas,

I don't have one of these but when ever I get a bike, even new I set the suspension to the standard settings as you would be amazed how far out and oddly set it can be and then start adjusting it from there, one thing that always makes most bikes turn easier is to drop the yokes down the forks 5-10 MM worth a try and its free :thumbup

I had mine set up for me at a trackday, it cost me £50 but was worth it and can remember most of what was said.

Mine was all over the place too but after 20 mins and a few laps and one more adjustment it was bang on.

Mine 2as that loose the bike used to not reset first time and would rock back and forth a couple of times before levelling out.....I just rode round this problem before hand.

Also worth checking the basics 1 st tyre condition , tyre pressures , wheel bearings , rear shock linkage , steering head bearings etc
also check forks not twisted in yokes .

Agreed,check the basics first.:yes

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

I'll check what's been mentioned, :thumbup

I had a similar problem when I got mine and replaced the standard shock with an Ohlins to much disappointment as it was little better. Then I changed the tyres from from Bridgestone 010s to Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas and I was amazed at the change from the first few feet ridden. I think the 010s were just old but I've stuck to Supercorsas, oh and plumb for the 180 55 rear as it's taller and lighter and will turn in quicker.

I also dropped the front to the lowest indicator and had the standard forks revalved and use a higher density fork oil; consequently I can turn in real late, carry good corner speed and change direction quicker. Obviously I set up the bike and rider sag prior to all this. I'll have to do this again as I've just had the rear Ohlins serviced and got a new spring for it to better suit my weight.

You may also want to check wheel alignment and change front fork oil.

Well had a new front tyre fitted today, and put all the suspension settings to stock,

thanks all for ya suggestions & advice.

She's like a different bike, even riding to the tyre shop there was noticeable difference with the suspension set to stock, but still on the old tyre.

I used to get a strange wandering sensation. Did my head in and knocked confidence.

The bike has done this for a long time and over two pairs of tyres

I've had suspension tickled by JHS racing, I'll let you know how I get on
