Got my Oxford soft panniers & tail bag through and was gonna get a tank bag to fit on the plastic tank for a map holder....but have decided against that now and would like to see if any of you out there have retro fitted any descent gps systems to ur bike with good results if so can u post any pics/details power requirements for a rookie in this department??......................bear in mind I wil need european mapping at the very least!!

I have the garmin Zumo 550 fitted to the mille by a ball that fits in the headstock easy to fit and has all the european mapping on wired direct to the battery all the fittings came with the unit

Yep that would be gr8 if it wasn't worth a quarter of what I paid for the bike.............nice bit of kit but too much for me .....must be sommat a bit cheaper out there???

Seen some garmin stanavs going on fleabay for not too much will probs give 1 of those a go..........

I use a ball system in the headstock as well to connect a ram mount for my trusty garmin 2720 but you could use your smart phone with the right cradle and mount etc . will post a pic when I can .

I bought an old Binatone satnav unit from fleabay for £15 and I'm gonna make it fit today so here is a how to if any1 wants to have a go.................

Binatone A430 with really old maps I think they were 2007!!!! teleatlas matched to a rubbish nav engine.........
So as it run window ce6 mobile operating system I installed IGO8 latest version with western Europe maps and its working nice so here goes mounting it!!!

First drilled a 8mm hole in the top of the clocks cover for the ball of the mount to sit in snug.......far enough back that the rear of the sat nave case mount rests on the front lip edge of the top cover and keeps itself straight.........then drill 2 smaller 4mm holes slighty forward of the large hole either side so could get a zip tie on it and tighten it down as in the pic...........

Gave it a good wiggle in all directions and it is on there pretty tight but not rock solid.....so good to soak up a few vibes!! It also comes of very easy when bike is parked up :biggrin

Next was to sort out the wiring so I ran the usb car charger to a female adapter I had laying around then wired that into the 12v supply just behind the clocks and put it onto the inine switch you see on the pictures to turn the charging off or on.

Tidied up the wiring then put the nosecone back on..........tightened everything up and voila here is the end result very please for £15 notes hopefully its tucked far enough inside the screen to keep the worst of the rain out but not really too worried for that price...........

Took her out for a 20 mile ride this arvo over some bumpy roads to give it a test and it stayed put with very little movement never lost signal and the igo8 is very good and clear to read also easy to use, can recommend it as good as Tom Tom if not better...........
