What gains can you get fitting the larger throttle bodies to the 2000 - 2003 millies , just exploring different upgrades and whats worth it or not.

a bigger petrol bill..lol

Basically a small power gain at the top end of the rev range....but you can bring it in earlier by fitting tuono stacks as they are longer

for honest opinion ring Griff

Could you pm me his number , need someone with a lot of knowhow . Dont want the throw money at it without significant gains , if any.
cheers.

I spoke to Griff when l was thinking about getting them fitted. To be honest, it's a lot of money for very little gain.

I've ended up with a carbon hooked airbox, a set of Redratbikes collectors, DrRossi Chip and a PClll. Don't need to do anything else.

as Russ says its not that big a deal in real terms ...i got mine cheap so was worthwhile doing it but its just another so-called must have mod..its more all about topend rush with 57's

there is a company in germany that bore them to 61mm ...if you want to be greedy

probably better off with the mods Russ has done for everyday riding...which is exactly what i've done along with the 57's..tuono stacks to bring the power surge in a little earlier

I dont think I'll go as far as Russrsv but just a couple of mods . I'd have kept the 12 if I still wanted big top end figures etc so chip and something else , not sure what though.

Going from 51 to 57's with my mods was a massive difference .... did alot of home work about the pro's & cons of changing 51's to 57's for 3ys before I spent the cash on them , but now kicked myself for not doing it when I first brought the bike 4.5ys ago .

must admit Sensei my bike feels great with the 57's and i've got an early small valve motot that everybody says doesnt suit the 57's,..but i was lazy and got guru god-like man Griff to fit and set up so its ran spot on

but the hooked box helps as well as decent exhaust

I'd love to hear a bit more about the detail of what's required to get the best out of the 57mm TB's on the bigger valve heads. I've already got the following mods and keep thinking about upgrading but would expect some decent bang for my buck rather than just a little top end gain.

Hooked airbox
Red Rat collector
Race can
Dr Rossi chip

57mm TBs cost £250-£300 all in, if I need a PCIII & custom map then I'm looking at £700, that is a whole summer of track days.
also I worry that fuel consumption will plummet with daily use.

You need to shop around munkey got my 57 mm for 75 quid delivered and I got a set for moggi for 55 I think it was there out there you just got to lOOk
Then you need the lead converters 30 quid and your Rossi chip will need redoing
I have a pcIII but at the moment it's disconnected and running fine it will just help fine tune things and the rest you already have:thumbup

Redrat collector? whats that then?

Currently running Akrapovic end can, and Hooked air box. I've got an Eprom chip and spare Aprilia race can. Not managed to get the chip fitted as could'nt afford dyno time last year. In 6 months should be coming into some extra cash so should put that to rights. Whats the collector then? Cheers.

edit
I've got a a 2000 RSV-R. You know a black fast one.:thumbup

Sorry thats what I meant to say it was all part of getting a pcIII, money has certainly been tighter last year.

That sounds more encouraging, I believe that I also need to get a replacement base (different thickness) for my Hooked airbox or some shorter stacks, can anyone comment on costs for this or the mods I need to do to work around it and how shorter stacks affect the power? (more mid rather than top end?)

I've asked about increased fuel consumption before but not really got any useful feedback, I would like to know how how many miles I would lose from a tank for motorway cruising v's hard riding/trackday. The bike gets used for 120m commuting and if I'm going to trouser a load more fuel than it won't be worth it for me. If however it's still good commuting then I'm happy to burn through the tank quicker if I'm having fun when out for a blat and get a nice power hike.

If it is looking good no one is allowed to buy a set of 57's until I've snapped up a cheap set on the bay!

Andi, never measured the fuel consumption...just fill it ride it,fill it ride it sorry

your hooked base plate can be dremelled bigger and the bottom of the stacks sliced off to fit thats what Griff did to

taller stacks from tuono = more midrange

shorter rsv stacks = more topend

I lost 1 bhp using the longer tuono stacks over the shorter stacks at peak rpm but all across the rev range is a healthy improvment except @ 7500- 7700 where there is no difference.
anyone wanting to see the chart could let me know how to post it up on here 'cause I dont have a clue
