Riding slow keeping revs down and im getting 47miles to a tener of fuel.is there something wromgwith my bike

Sounds about normal to me. I'm getting 120 miles from a £25.00 tank of fuel
Averaging 21p a mile.

Gotta agree, get between 80 and 120 out of a full tank from mine

I don't understand how I get such good economy from mine? If I take it fairly steady on a long run (e.g. ~80mph on DCWs and motorways, 60 on A roads) I can get 55mpg from it without really trying. I went up to Pembrey a couple of weeks ago with a friend on his 996 (both loaded down with camping stuff) and gave it a proper thrashing and still managed 42mpg. I imagine shorter trips or a lot of riding in traffic would really drop it though.

Some causes for high fuel consumption > Dirty fuel filter, Dirty Air Filter ( most high performance filters are washable ), High Gearing, Using unnecessarily high rpm when riding, Old spark plugs ( recommend Iridium ).

I managed Edinburgh to Burghead on a tank of fuel which is 172 miles. The fuel light still hadn't even come on when I arrived so reckon I could get 200+ out of a tank easy.

lol, worse than my old V2 02 Mille unless really thrashing it in 3rd/ 4th eevrywhere.
Mind you ( even before the recent petrol price hikes)..my rsv4 used to cost 10 quid for 50 mile thrash, which is about 31 mpg. ( I turned off the average mpg on the display, it was too depressing haha)
Im doing 1500 miles across europe on the v4..so thats 350-400 GBP at current prices!!!
Sure you dont have a fuel leak?? lol

sure ya not on a **** bike?? lol, even my 'pre ****' bikes' 22 litre tank hits 190 miles then reserve of 4 litres

Coming back to bikes after a 6 year stint with a Toyota supra, anything above 20mpg is a plus! I manage about 120 miles to a tank, consumption goes through the ceiling with plodding around town though
