Hi all
I have had a few gear problems since the Tuono came out of hibernation after winter.
she has only got 2500 miles on the clock and the warranty runs out in November.
it seems to be a intermittent fault on the last 5 weekend rides.
trying to change up the box and the lever just sticks. Just won't select the next gear. It has done it going second to third twice, fourth to fith once and fith to six twice both using the clutch and the quick shifter. I have a little free play in the clutch so don't think it's that. And seen as it has done it using the quick shifter a don't think it's a clutch problem.
Its at the dealers but of course didn't do it when they took it for a ride.
any of you guys had any problems of this nature.

It could be the gear lever pivot point has dried out or maybe the detent spring (i think it's called that) that is responsible for centring the selector shaft after shifting gear is loose.

Check the first by simply taking the lever off and lubing the pivot.

Check the later by trying to physically turn the selector shaft with your fingers. If the spring is intact and secure you shouldn't be able to turn it.

Yes it has been with the dealer since last week (with no loan bike) great day for a ride Sunday. DOH
They have taken it out twice but can't find the fault.
If you look at my post on the American Aprilia forum, a chap has put a link up to a common fault in the gearbox. Easy fix as it's just a loose nut on the gear indent pin. Judging by what people are saying on the link it sounds like this could well be what's causing my issues. I have passed this on to the dealer and they said for the sake of dropping the oil and a gasket they will have a look. So fingers crossed.
Why ? do you have similar problems.

no mate but I am interested as I have put a deposit on a 1100 factory. I presume your dealer is in Sheffield ?

Yes I purchased it new, and now they have the bike they are looking after me well.when do you get the 1100, did you part ex another bike.

Glad they are looking after you. The 1100 is due in at the end of April. Not part ex anything.

Good luck with the 1100, may see you out and about. do you get over to Matlock bath on a Sunday.

No mate don't do Matlock. I try to put miles on the bikes when I get out which isn't that often. I tend to look at them in the garage too much to look at them out on the road as well. That said it seems like there are a few members in and around Sheffield so we should arrange a meet up?
