Behold the most powerful production motorcycle in the world. If you’re saying to yourself, “gee…that looks a lot like the Bimota Tesi 3D,” you’d be right, and that’s because the Vyrus 987 C3 4V was designed by Ascanio Rodorigo, who worked with Massimo Tamburini at Bimota in the early-1980’s. Now running the boutique shop Vyrus, Rodorigo has unveiled his latest revision in his series, the 987.
Fitted with a Ducati 1198 motor, the Vyrus 987 comes in three flavors. The base model will be available with the 170bhp and tip the scales at 359lbs. The higher spec “R” versison, will add 14hp (184hp), and go on an 11lbs diet, for a weight of 348lbs.
Still not satisfied? Well then the Vyrus 987 C3 4V Supercharged is the bike for you, and boasts the title of the most powerful production motorcycle. With a supercharger on-board, the Vyrus 987 cranks out 211hp and is anorexically light at 339lbs. With these numbers*the supercharged Vyrus 987 will be lighter and more powerful than the Ducati Desmosedici RR, but will also cost a pretty more than the Desmo.
With hub-center steering, traction control, and aggressive styling, the Vyrus is a cancer for your wallet.*The base model will be priced at £44,000 (US$69,500), the R version at £50,000 (US$79,000) and the supercharged version at £71,000 (US$112,000). Ouch!
