This is the information I have. Bike wouldn't turn over at all but all lights came on usual whirring sounds etc. Pressed start and nothing. Bought new battery and fully charged it started then died after about 2 mins. Hasn't started since. Recovery guy looked at it and said 'I aint got a clue' so not much help there. Bear in mind I am not at all technically minded and hoping its something simple. Any advice or directions?

If it has power but isn't cranking then could be side stand switch, kill switch or any connection between starter button and starter motor

So I've got it going by fiddling with this which I believe to be the fuel pump but I had a fully charged batt showing 14.1 on the optimiser then went down to 12 quite quickly. Guess a parasite drain?

Check your fuses. Fuel pump, starter, speed sensor and lambda sensor all on same fuse. If fuse blown you will get lights but no pump or starter. Mine did that while riding and was caused by speed sensor. Just disconnect it and replace fuse see if that works.

having a problem with my beloved (annoying) Honda Rebel 500

Riding along the other day & the bike cut out at about 40mph.

Wouldnt start again, tried to bump it with no luck & eventually i think the battery just died as it stopped clicking when i hit the starter & the neutral light had more or less gone out.

I was on my way to honda anyway to get a new reg plate made up to get it through the MOT, so pushed it there, explained the problem and they said they'd have a look.

Picked it up the next day, they said they'd checked the engine & the battery and seemed ok.

Riding it home..happened again. I've got no idea, Honda apparently have no idea.

Usually i can fix the bike myself & it is very well maintained but i can't diagnose this problem (i'm not great at the diagnosing part, just the fixing part!).

Really need some help, MOT booked in 3 days from now and if i can't fix it myself as Honda wont be able to do anything about it until 2 days from now...and i'm running pretty low on funds as it is!

Check your fuel lines and your tank. Make sure there is no vacuum in the tank. Sounds like a fuel problem
