Hi,

My stock battery died today, leaving me stranded at a filling station. Looking around the threads here, it seems that it may be possible to fit a larger capacity item - trouble is that I am not sure whether these fit an '07 model.

Could somebody help me out please and point me to the best and largest size battery suitable? Thanks

The Terminals look different on that battery, did you need to modify the battery cables

Have you got a Yuasa battery at the moment? My 07 had one from new and it never missed a beat.

Cheers.

H..

I got a Westco at the moment ... 3 years and still fine ... my yuasa only lasted 14 months :s . reviews on the moto batt look good but the terminals are different .... can't see how you would be able to use the standard cable fixings

The terminals on the motobatt come with adaptors to fit how you want it, the terminals can even be moved to the other side of the battery for more applications

Its no problem just pozi screws

I had one in my wifes Benelli tnt and it transformed the starting even though the yuasa that was in was only a year old

On Tuonozone griff is reccomending a ttz14-bs battery although they are 90 quid or more

Both my 08's had yuasa ytx12-bs in them and they are still working although the one in the rsv was getting slow to crank so a motobatt went in and it flies now

If you have a few bucks to spare get one of the newer batteries that use A123 cells. Their are MASSIVELY lighter, smaller, offer more cranking amps and last 2-3 times the typical lead acid battery. They do cost a good deal more though. 3-4 times more depending on size.

I put the 2nd from the largest in my bike and it only weighed 2.9 lbs I could have easily gotten away with a smaller size but wanted to error on the side of caution.

This is the one I got, seems to turn her over nicely and ive never heard of a problem with these

The bracket need to lie at a slight angle but is not a problem

Remember to refit the trip switch to the bracket or the bike wont start

Thanks for the replies. I got myself one of these as suggested. Fitting not too bad - had to bend on one of the tabs on the lead slightly but now in there snugly. Fell foul of the battery cutoff switch :stupid (put it back on the wrong way round so bike would not start).

To answer the previous question, the Yuasa battery was original, but died last weekend. Started on first push after being laid up for past 5 months, then died at the filling station when I restarted - despite being on Optimate for that time.

Hi can you help the battrery on a bike i just bought died i fitted a new one and now wont start, i thought it was an alarm problem but reading this i wonder if it is this battery cut of you talked about, what is it and where does it go / look like. the bike turns over but doesnt start would this happen if the battery cut off is not conected? any help would be great thanks.

Basically the cut-off is a fuel pump isolator for when there is a fall / accident etc ... it sits beside the battery and is easy knocked when working on the battery.

Thanks for the info i sorted it now it was a blown fuse, so the alarm can stay now. bloody things are more trouble than there worth.
